For approximate planning purposes, we should be finished with lunch at Gracie's Restaurant in Stowe at ~ 1:30PM (hopefully), and we should be in Irasburg (Bailout #2) at ~3PM. The full route loop will take us back to The Fireside Inn at around 6:30 PM. Yes, Tom has got us a full-day of Vermont route planned. :yahoo:

I'll also post up some links (in this thread) to download GPS formatted route files, sometime before the actual ride.
....24 more sleeps :hyper:

Hey,

Anyone want to share a room for the G/W ride? My resume says I don't smoke or snore. I plan to be there Friday, Sat and Sunday night if necessary.

Hey everyone. Because of the large group size for dinner on Saturday night (we are now up to 34, possibly 35?) at "Jessie's", the staff there has required that we order from a group menu as they can not accommodate our request for ordering off the full menu at peak time (7PM) on a Saturday night.

I figured the best lineup was The Favorite Package:

This package includes your choice of the following dinner entrees:
* Wood Grilled Atlantic Salmon (9oz)

* Top Sirloin (10oz) or Teriyaki Sirloin (10oz)

* Twin Lemon/Garlic Grilled Chicken Breasts

The above is accompanied by a plated garden salad, the hot vegetable of the day, and the choice of side. Available sides are: baked potato, organic brown rice or sweet mashed potatoes (please choose one for your group).

Following your meals; coffee, tea, and a seasonal dessert will be served.
I've arbitrarily chosen the baked potato for our group (the least controversial?). I've also asked that they provide us with a choice of soup before dinner as an appetizer. The soups will be either New England clam chowder or French onion soup.

The Package Price Per Person (with the added soup) is $32.20 which includes all taxes and gratuities. I think this is less than you would have spent ordering off the menu.

I hope everyone finds this acceptable. If there are any folks that no longer wish to dine with us on Saturday night please post up, or you can PM me, and I'll remove you from the dinner tally.

Yummmm, steak, 'taters, and clam chowda. Thanks Fred.

I know you're not asking for our orders in advance, just whetting my appetite. [fork and knife smiley]

Sounds good to us 2 top sirloins

Fred - you deserve a trophy for putting this all together - I'll buy you one, or two, that resemble pint size glasses and are full of beer.

 My favorite kind!
Fred I think Michelle and I are going to pass on Jessie's Saturday night. We did reserve a room for Saturday night and probably wont get there until about 6pm.We want to enjoy the room and Fireside Inn. So we will probably just get something and eat in our room. Maybe have a couple beers at the bar.

Eric N

Gotcha. Actually I had not counted you two for dinner yet.

I do not recall their being a bar in the hotel, but the 7 Barrel Brewery is just across the (large) lot and I'm pretty sure that you can get growlers to go!

OK, I think we have achieved route analysis to paralysis. So it's due time to post up (what should be) the final routes that we will follow on this ride. I am including all three days' routes in each file, and they are in either Garmin GDB Ver3 format (created on City Navigator 2009 version maps) or in the generic GPX format.

2010_Greens_and_Whites.gdb

2010_Greens_and_Whites.gpx

The only last minute change from what was recently shown on Google Mappage is a change of lunch spot for Sunday. We'll be going to "Pie in the Sky", an upscale Pizza place in Stowe rather than Gracie's, since we could not confirm that Gracie's could handle our group size.

These routes were created with the latest "map intersection" technique. So if you happen to be running a Garmin GPS you should not hear all of the route shaping waypoints being announced in your ear. If you are running another brand of GPS or need to use the GPX formatted file, all bets are off. They'll still get you thru the route just hunky dory, but may give you more GPS audio prompts than you bargained for.

Please let me know if you need some other format for your particular GPS and I will attempt to accommodate.

For us less intelegent navigators?

Save as target file, all files, rename with gpx extension?

here goes. let's see if this works. Oooooops! not that way.

Got it on the second try. I had to jog the brain a little since I don't do this to often.

Thanks Fred,

Dave

Guess I shoulda went with a PC instead of a Mac, but got tired of mine crashing fatally. Something to do with trying to find sheep porn to post on the forum or sumpin'. Trying to figure a way to get my Mapsource into the Mac to make this work.... anybody have any info? I'm gonna stop being a lazy prick and go do a little research, but figured I'd ask here since it ain't friday yet. <_<

Garmin doesn't acknowledge anything Apple. MapSucks will not run on anything that Steve Jobs has touched.

That is what happens when Apple does not allow open programing source code. And, also why Macs are pretty much virus free.
