You'll FIND me with a Ruger SP101 .357 or Glock Model 23 .40MM. If you have any questions if it is there or not, I'll let you decide if you really saw a gun or not.

These are two great guns for CCW's. Many police officers, in our area, use them as a second or back up weapon.

And i thought I was the only Kook with that combo :D

Might get a Beretta .380 for CC. Had one 15 years ago.......still wish I had it.

Shoot best with the SP101 w/ .38 or +P's

Have always found the SP101 very accurate with .357 or .38. The Glock is a great gun and accurate. I have the extented clips you can't purchase any more...18 rounds.

So, from the looks of it...there are two kook's in the world.

Good choice in the 686. I have one and as far as revolvers go, it is top notch. Practicing with the .38's is fun, and has next to no recoil.

unless you decide to go really crazy, this gun will last you a lifetime. Dev Group (AKA SEAL Team 6) started out using the 586, which is the same gun, but doesn't have the full length lug on the bottom. That alone says something about the reliability of S&W revolvers.

They tweaked the name...It's now Bureau of Alchol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives....now it's really a party!

.357 Mag revolver. Fits nicely in my tank bag. Here in Alaska, I load it with bear quality round...
Um, OK. I don't mean to Dog Pile on this, but if you think a .357 is going to stop any Bear that is up in Alaska, I would really thing again. Maybe, just maybe, if you jambed the gun in his mouth, between bites he is taking out of your but, it might do more than piss him off. Don't get me wrong, a .357 is better than nothing, and it's not like you can pack a 300 Winchester Mag. in your tank bag, but if you are thinking specifically for bear, I would look at the short barrel version of the .500 Mag., and get a bigger tank bag. Gel insert riding gloves might even help with the recoil from the hand cannon if you needed to shoot it.

Handgun bear ammo is a never ending, and very heated topic on almost all gun forums.

Wow, this thread has taken a left hand turn, and I think I helped spin the wheel!?!

I think this is the funniest thing that I have ever heard A guy from Ill. telling a guy from Alaska how to handle big bears. HA HA

If you think that .454 is going to knock out a big bear, you either need to do some hunting or a hell of a lot of shooting. Bernie

I know there are quite a few folks on here that are packin' and mouths start watering when the topic is guns. Looking for something decent under $400 (if such a thing exists). Cabella's has a selection of used guns, so, if I need to look more in the $400-$500 range (new), I might be able to find something gently used that would be in my price range. Just looking for something of decent quality to go plinking with that packs and field strips pretty easily. The wife will be shooting it, too, so, don't want something that will kick her *** with recoil.
personally I would think the Ruger Bull Barrel 22 mentioned earlier would be the best choice for "plinking".

I'm actually considering getting a Kel-Tek P32 for conceal and carry.

Now, I've been out of this hobby for awhile and realize that a 32 would probably just aggravate a drug crazed ***** but, at close range with the correct placement...wouldn't this be a good self defense pistol? Or would it be better to get the P3AT 380 which is about the same $$? Isn't there some "hot" rounds for each?

I was at first considering a revolver, my last one being a Colt 357 Trooper 6", which I never should have sold, anyway after seeing these new auto's, I beginning change my mind.

If any of you gun pro's out there have any advice I'm listening, I'm wanting something small to carry but still stop some wacko.

This is what I got my wife for Christmas:

Smith & Wesson model 642-2 5 shot .38+P, light as a feather. She loves it and was most grateful

I was going to get her a nice Beretta semi auto shotgun but that would have been too obvious that it was really for me

I don't want to be the only one who adds conjecture to this thread but here in Aus we just don't carry guns.

I myself am a keen hunter but the ownership of rifles is very heavily policed and therefore very restricted. Hand gun ownership is even further restricted.

I don't disagree with the governance placed on firearms at all.

It is just so foreign to me to think about what hand gun I should pack before leaving the house. It's just not a necessary requirement here in Australia.

Why is it necessary in the US???

Please don't flame me. I'm not criticizing..

It's not a requirement in the US either but, if another person had a gun when this took place, https://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18134671/ or when this happened https://www.cnn.com/2007/US/12/05/mall.shooting/ perhaps the death toll would have been smaller.

Apparently Australia has fewer nut cases and their justice system actually works, who knows?

Excellent question for a new thread which will surely be shut down almost immediately since it's political flame bait. Right Kieefer? ;) Lets stay on track here....

Right sir, you are correct.

I'll have to take a looks at that Lady Smith, a 38 was what I was shopping for in the first place.
