If I've been there, i can't remember it.Ā  From Goodman4's clues, I know which trip I've taken that is close to there.Ā  ButĀ  I can't put the pieces together.

Does it count if I got an Internet assist? - haven't been there so shouldn't claim it.

(I'll give it a day or so in case there is a legitimate response)

Abosolutely! You don't needĀ to have been there to guess. I think it's "polite" to give the people that may have been there a day to recognize it, but not required. This is hopefully just as much about finding places we might want to see.Ā

Go for it Ross

Yes, thanks! I was trying to decide what to do to rescue this one without totally giving it away. I'm happy you researched it and found it from the hints. The waterfall is called Great Falls and the mill is Bosson Cotton Mill built around the time of the Civil War. The little castle is the Spring House that they built for the mill workers to get water to drink. One other trivia note is that some scenes from Stallone's "The Specialist" where filmed in this location. There's a second waterfall in the park called Twin Falls that is also worth seeing.

Per Pants' trip report, He came across 30 through Fall Creek Falls, which is a good and popularĀ twisty road. The waterfall there is supposed to be the highest free fall east of the Mississippi but it isn't thatĀ great to look at. Hwy 30 smoothes out 3Ā miles west of Spencer, TN and you can takeĀ Laurel Creek Rd and Bone Cave Rd off 30 for 8 miles of hills on little roads that we find fun, detouring through Rock Island State Park. We try to go this way any time we go to North Carolina.

Take it away, Ross!

I had a different one but decided it was too generic (see below, if you wish).Ā  This is a USA location and should be familiar to quite a few...

(Apologies for the switch!!)

In case someone wants to try the original photo I posted, here it is (Canadian location.)

COLD day in June

Oh yeah I've been to the first location a few times. Last visit was on the way to Rifle, Wa and CFO in Nakusp with some great FJR type peeps..

The second pic is a guess, the Canadian Rockies somewhere in Canada (imagine that???)Ā

Who knows where besides Ross?

PSĀ  Cold? Common Ross, I don't see any ice in the parking lot. šŸ˜„šŸ˜„

First one wasn't meant to be tough - just a pretty fair picture fromĀ a beautiful lookout point.

The second one was too generic to be a good choice but I'll leave the exact location in case someone recognizes it.Ā  Ā I encountered snow flurries that day on my way to that spot.Ā  Didn't stop anywhere along the way because I was FREEZING - missed a lot of fantastic photo ops.Ā  Mesh jacket (with liner) rain gear as a windbreaker.Ā  Totally unprepared for COLD - last few days in June, IIRC.

I am hoping the second one is near Jasper as Banff is on our hopeful trip list.
You are definitely in the ballpark but you would need to be familiar with the road for the exact locationĀ - actually about halfway between Jasper and Banff.Ā  The Crossing Resort at the junction of the Icefields Parkway (#93) and the David Thompson Highway (#11).Ā  Stunning ride through there!!

We'll leave the first picture up for whoever wants to take the next one.

I know where Nakusp is, so that narrows it down, but I am confused by Rifle, Wa. Google doesn't seem to know that exists.

On that trip, it was WAY below seasonal normal temperatures from New Brunswick all the way to the west coast (Gibsons, BC) via Canadian roads and all the way back in the northern US until I got to Minnesota - then it was HOT for the remainder.Ā  Flurries on the Icefield Parkway and a couple inches of snow coming out of Yellowstone on July 6 or so.Ā  Learned a lot about how to prepare for riding at elevation.Ā Ā

Thanks Goodman, for referencing my R/R in relation to your last entry for this game.Ā  I went right by it, but didn't stop.

Goes to show that there is plenty of reason to go back to just about anywhere!

As for British Columbia - haven't been yet.Ā  I got as far as Kansas in route, but turned back because of a bad back.Ā  That trip is high on the list.Ā
