As an alternative, y'all could take WDV - Duvall road east and we could meet at the Shell in Duvall at 8:30 ish. There is coffee close and 203 is a little (very little) more interesting than taking 202 down south. I could meet some of you at the FC roundabout as well...We could take a back way detour to Issaquah and hit 90 there too.

Geez Louise. Am I gonna have to ride North to herd the cats and then lead the motley crue down to Auburns. don't make me. girls girls girls.....

OK, knowing a plan will not form itself, I'll take a stab at this to get us started:
Saturday, Oct 24th:

  • 8:00 AM - depart REI parking lot at Redmond Town Center (behind REI)
  • 8:20 AM-ish - stop at three-way intersection, Fall River - just to the right hand side
  • 8:30 AM-ish - depart Fall City en route to 90, then onto Highway 18
  • Lord knows what time it'll be, BUT, head South on Hwy 18 to Auburn
  • Double check super secret GPS coordinates; head to AubrunFJR's lair

Expected arrival: ~ 9:15 - 9:30AM

DaBrit - I think this'll cover you and allow us to hook up, if the timing works. Scout, should be easy for you and I to meet up at REI en route to FC. I plan on taking this route regardless, as it looks (on the map, anyway) to afford a bit of riding time by taking me the "Long Way Down"...

Hudson - you're welcome to join if available, too. :) Now that I'm out of the break in period, I WILL keep up on the highway. ;)

Escapeartist - is there a reasonable route that might enable you to meet us either in FC or at the turn off from the 90 to the 18? Perhaps you don't even want to be bothered with being saddled with commuting detritus such as myself (won't lump others into this group just yet. :) )... but the invitation to meet up is heartily extended all the same - happy to ride with you again. :)

I will be coming back to Kirkland the evening of the 24th, as well, for anyone interested in the run back this way.

Now, onto the most important question:

...I don't need to wash the bike, do I? ;) J/K, not gonna happen. The Black Barge is a tough bird and looks great with a bit of road dust on her flanks. :D
Dang! I'd love to ride down with you folks, but I'm getting back in town from a trip early on Sat. morning. I don't think I'll even hit the airport until after 9. So by the time I get home, grab the bike, whatever, you'll be long gone. Anyway, I'll see you all there later on.

I'm really looking forward to meeting folks and learning about stuff.

Jeff.

Beamer - ah, if I said "yup", would that be too direct...? :D ;)

It'd be greaty if we could meet up to ride.

Escapeartist - I'm going to ask, pretty please, if you would review this map and let me know if this is the route yu're suggesting because, ah, well... I'm still new enough around here that I don't know where you are referencing off the top of my head - but I like the idea all the same! :) This routing will take us a bit longer to reach Auburn, but that's cool. (Puts us closer to Hudson's mandate of 100 miles to call a group ride - in fact, I'll call a technical win in that this route down and something close on the return takes us past the 100 mile mark, so :p )

Does this look like what you are suggesting? (Keep in mind this starts at my home address, not in Redmond. ;) ) Taking THIS route should put us in Auburn right around 10:00 AM (a bit after, in fact), depending on stops/any traffic/delays.

Sorry to here you won't make the ride portion Jack. :( Looking forward to meeting you in Auburn though. :)

Sportsguy thanks for the route and for setting this up.

Well us "Cats" will meet you "cats" in Duvall, that way we can have a bit of a ride then meet the rest of ya.

From fall city you could carry on 202 to Snoqualmie parkway, then over tiger mountain summit which I believe is highway 18, then onto Auburn. But we are purrrfectly OK with either way.

I don't know if the better half is riding her bike or coming on mine yet, so if the weathers good we might have a new blue fz6r in tow .... otherwise she will let the old guy fly sorry I mean ride.

OK we will be by the clock at the junction of main and Stella street at 8.15 in Duvall, that's about the earliest we can make it as we have to drop the dog off at day camp.

Will PM ya with cell number etc.

Meow for now,

DB

If we're leaving REI in Redmond at 8:00 AM, I think it'll take us longert han 15 minutes to reach you in Duval. ;) Take a few minutes and spend some QT with the pooch. :D

That's it! It will take about 25 minutes to make it from Duvall to I-90 if we go your mapped way. Does anyone want to meet for breakfast at Denny's 405 / 124th in Totem Lake? 7:00 ish would put us out by 8 and in Duvall at the Shell by 8:30 easy. Thoughts?

Guys, lots more fun if you take the back roads. More scenic and the roads are way more fun. Here's a route from REI to Snoqualmie (you'll ride right by my house).

From Snoqualmie, only one real route over Tiger Summit (18). However, instead of the thoroughly boring route along 18, exit on Issaquah Hobart Road and take the most excellent back roads. Both routes will add an additional total of 45 minutes to your travel time, but you'll be smiling by the time you show up.

You're really trying to get me lost eh, Hudson? I thought about taking old FC / Issaquah road to I-90 and then go down 18, would add a little interest. Might be time to explore Hobart when I have a full tank of fuel and no where in particular to go. See you Saturday?

I am at the Freestone Inn that weekend. Don't like to miss these tech days. Brian and Marisa do a great job. If things change, then I will be there.

So far, the forecast is dry and overcast. I'm still in pending mode. I will know later this week if I can make it.

On the advice of Hudson, I'd like to check to make sure the steering head is torqued down and lube the drive splines and shaft. Will anyone have a steering head bearing socket there?

Jeff.

I'll bring a tool, I'm sure others have them as well. Hmmmm....never actually checked mine before either.

Hudson, Hudson, Hudson...just go one exit past Issaquah/Hobart on 18 and go North 1 mile and pick me up on the way down. We then go right back to your route without ever touching 18 again and you feel good about picking up a brother rider along the way. No need to be at Bryan's right at 0900, he will be tired of us all by end of the day regardless. How are the bike covers coming along?

George, "meet for breakfast at Denny's 405 / 124th in Totem Lake? 7:00 ish would put us out by 8 and in Duvall at the Shell by 8:30 easy" works for me.

From Duvall back to and south on West Snoqauimie Rd to Carnation. Then West Snoqauimie River Rd to the old SE Issaquah-Fall City Rd to Issaquah. From Issaquah on the Issaquah-Holbart Rd. and so on.

Riders can meet us at Denny's [7:00], Duvall Shell [8:30], Carnation [8:45] Issaquah-Holbart Rd [9:10]

Thoughts???

Alright - I am thoroughly lost now given the suggestions made here, so...

Where the heck are we going?!

Can someone with local knowledge take a run at finalizing a route here so those of us unfamiliar with the routes will meet up with folks?

I'm at my limit on local roadways (for now!), and I'd hate to end up leading folks out of Redmond and missing the group en route... :(

Duane, Dave's suggestion of meeting at Dennys will be the trick. Just talked to George and he's feeling ok with this! Best just follow Pops advice, hell if we get lost I can always get us there late!

This will be one of the topics for the day (getting lost)!
