Just came across this little nugget here...

And it's a weekend where we are actually available!

If I can get the rear tire replaced on the FJR ('The Snake' at EOM killed it) before then, we'll be there on the FJR. Otherwise, we'll be there on the Harley, and we'll ride at the back of the slowest group.

Well, just summarizing from the posts ...it looks like we have interest from

Meetup time for this event.
8am -breakfast at the little restaurant next to the Best Western

8:45 - start riding

It looks some will be staying Friday night, October 16 at the Best Western in Caldwell, OH.

We will be leaving from the Best Western Saturday, October 17 for some serious riding fun. :yahoo:
I haven't ridden with you guys so I don't know if 1 larger group works or whether 2 smaller groups are better. I will let the locals determine that. Once the route is determined, everybody should have a copy of it with them so they can lead if need be....you know just in case Tom gets a cold
I'm free that weekend and I think I'll be able to make it. Anybody heard from Griff?

Lunch suggestion: Wild Horse Cafe in Pomeroy. They have a web site if you want to check it out. I've never been they but it is a destination for some group rides outa Columbus. It's probably 15 or 20 miles out of Coolville on route 7.

Don't know if we'll be that far south?

No, we won't be. But we appreciate any and all lunch suggestions to consider.

We will be close to the original posted route just with the addition of 255 on the east end. We will be running counter clockwise from Caldwell, and will be using 550 east to 690 south to get around Athens.

I will put together a route map and will post it in the next day or so. After looking at the route map, maybe some of the locals can suggest a lunch stop on the way.

I've got to be in Kansas City that week and am coming back Friday. So right now I'm trying to figure out if I want to go from KC back home on Friday afternoon and then ride to Ohio or ride to KC for the week and then bag *** for Ohio that Friday. My boss frowns on me riding my motorcycle when I can drive a nice safe government SUV, but what he doesn't know won't hurt him!!

Holy crap griff...KC to Ohio on a Friday! Then a full day of twisties the next day? You gotta be insane!

It is a gonna be a great time though. I thought you weren't available on Fridays...oh well. I am roomsplitting with El Toro Joe on Friday night, but if you make it, we can room split Saturday night to save on dough if you want.

I hope this trip works out for you...but you gotta be nucking futs to try that long *** ride from KC to a full day of muscling that bike in the SE Ohio twisties! :dribble:

Just thinking. But yeah, you're probably right. I'm not a TriggerT. Butttt, if I fly back from KC on Friday and get back at a reasonable time, I could ride over to Caldwell and get there late Friday night. Still thinkin.

Looks like to me your thinkin' right! ;)

Sorry for the late entry, was watching the thread on the "other" forum. I might be keen to do a ride around about then if I still have tread left :) But I am puttin it in my calander.

I'm putting on new tires for this one...jes sayin'. Yer gonna have ta replace those tires sooner or later, might as well be sooner so yous can ride some more great roads.

Well here is the tentative route...330 miles if you do the whole loop. Rumor has it that some Ohioans want to get home to momma on Saturday night instead of BSing in the parking lot with a few brewskis...so they will split off early according to those rumors. :)

Tom/tstaff will check this route and let me know if I have muffed something up. If so, then it might get tweaked a little bit...but not much.

-Warning, read carefully-

By the way, this route has NOT been scouted by me since April, so it is possible that ODOT may have done something to the roads. Also, as always, I haven't broomed the surfaces, so yes there may be gravel, dead goats, truck tire rims, and all y'alls' beer bottles laying across the road in the middle of that blind dipsy do corner that you are whipping through - so BE WARNED. Do not ride faster than your sight distance, and don't assume the guy in front of you is perfect, and follow his lead. Pretend that the guy in front of you is a suicidal fooktard and is trying to get you killed - use your own eyeballs not his. You have been officially WARNED that if you ride this ride, you may get seriously hurt if you fook up, or someone around you does the same. Don't be "that guy".

-Warning, read carefully-

With all that being said (and understood by all who participate), here is a "map" or two of the route....

Everybody who comes is responsible for knowing this route before they come...as if they are going to ride it alone that weekend. We have no idea how many people will be there on this weekend, so we may tap YOU to lead a group. Yes...YOU.

Tom has gps files, I have S&T 2005 files, I will also make a turnsheet for myself...since I don't own a gps. Any others that want a turn sheet need to send me a PM for it.

Also, according to MS S&T, we should be in Marietta, OH about lunch time...so can some locals suggest a lunch stop for around there?

I think Tom has a place in mind for dinner around Bealsville, OH on the northeastern side of the route...tell us about it Tom.

The picture of that route made my nipples hard.

The Marietta Brewing Company has some good food. Other than that I got nothin'.

Would the Beallsville Diner still be open for dinner? If so, that's a good place, but take cash - they don't take plastic. DAMHIK.

I’m thinking a better dinner spot will be “Traditions” in Woodsfield rather than the Beallsville dinner.

I will need to revise my Mapsource file; I will make the changes & resend it.

Tom

The Beallsville Diner would be my pick........or the Riverview in FLY is very good....added plus with that is that we could take the bikes across the river on the Sisterville ferry.
