It's the tall 23" one in light gray. Days tends to get a bit cooler around here than your place this time of year 👎 Got snow on tap for Wednesday.

It's only an inch taller than the factory touring but is wider and seems to be more upright what with the flip at the top.

I'll either go back to the stock shield or get a Sport like yours for daily summer use. Still like the big quiet pocket for covering distances though. The constant wind from a little shield bothers me after a few hours on the highway.

Got back from a trip and looked over the damage caused by a co-worker backing into my bike and knocking it over while I was gone. Fudge!

He's a really good friend and felt terrible, so I can't be angry. It's just really inconvenient right now. I might have a cracked mirror subframe, so I'll have to pull all that apart tomorrow and weld it. I don't have time for this stuff right now.

Ouch! Hope things get repaired properly the first time through -- but you're an aircraft guy, so I suspect it will, and it will also be QC checked at least once before riding.

Phil - did the co-worker have insurance on his bike vehicle? If he did, please file a claim with his policy. Then BEFORE you start fixing the bike yourself, take the inconvenient time to bring it to your dealer and get an estimate for them to fix it. Then use that estimate to settle your claim. Don't forget to present the insurance company with an estimate to rent a vehicle for however long the dealer estimates it will take to fix the bike. You are entitled to that as well. Then take your settlement check and then go fix the bike yourself and pocket the savings. There is absolutely nothing illegal or immoral about this, you have suffered a loss, you are entitled to damages, and you can do whatever you want with your compensation.

I have 20 years experience in these matters. If you need some help, by all means send me a PM.

Gen 2 mirror subframes bend before they break, and can be straightened easily. Make sure it's broken before lighting up the acetylene.

Mirror mount too close to screen.

Shows part of mount is bent.

Metal bolted to mount to straighten it.

With suitable bolts and spacers, you don't need to remove all the plastic.

I removed the corner plastic that the headlight adjuster mounts to and took a quick look around with an inspection mirror and didn't see any cracks. It definitely flexes more than the other side, so something is going on though. I'll pull more apart later and figure it out, but we're getting carpet tomorrow so I'm pretty busy putting in laminate floors. Just aren't enough hours in the day.

About 250 miles along the gulf coast today. Brought my fishing pole and wet he line for about 30 min. Only a couple of small ones. Then I went over to a wildlife preserve for a little bird watching. Weather was awesome.

The baby got new shoes! I got the rp4 GT's and it was nice to stick into turns again as my old tires were getting pretty sketchy.

Rode with a couple other SC riders today for 250 miles of twisty goodness with temps in the 60s. Other than the rider in front acting like a *******, the group was pretty good. :D

Rode to Madison, In to scrub in my new tires and eat at the famous Broadway Tavern. Lots of fun but 30 to 40 mph wind gusts were annoying.

Took a short ride with my boss, who just got a 2011 S10. He's ridden dirt bikes, but this is his first street (legal) bike I believe. We had a great day, and I believe he pushed it a little, as he put it in sport mode for the first time. He's hooked now.

Went for a ride also. It was 68° here and I was home alone most of the morning. With the KTM here, my FJR hasn't seen as much action as she should, and you dorks with with your pissed off bikes are making me paranoid. Haha...So, with some Techron in the tank, and 3.9 gallons of fresh fuel to fill her up, we were off.

You know, sometimes, I forget how fast this bike really is. Maybe not so much "fast" but "quick." I hit the end of the on-ramp and realized I was well over 100, and I wasn't even pushing it because it was only at 2 bars. So, I slowed the Hell down and left town, headed for North 14 and Sandia Crest Rd. The Crest Rd runs past the ski area and goes from 7k feet to 10,600ft in 14 twisty miles.

It started out smooth and fast. There was some traffic, but nothing crazy. As soon as I hit Crest Rd, two Harleys were coming down, so I figured it would be rideable for a good bit. Gotta say, I'm not sure how much I like this Lamm seat. My *** is in a cup, so it's hard to move around, and since I'm sitting lower, my legs got tired.

I rode to around 3/4 of the way up. Maybe to 9k ft before snow started showing up on the road. Some of the super fun corners had water and sand in them, so I took mental notes and pressed on, until I hit a small section of two track. Screw that!! After a stunt in 2008, where I almost ate it ugly, the FJR and I don't mess with snow. So I turned around and enjoyed the ride home. My low temp on the ride was 44°, which is typical of the Crest. It's usually close to 30° colder than Albuquerque, unless it's a really warm summer day.

Only about 80 miles, but still, it was nice to get out. And the bike...Not a stumble. I love this stupid machine!!

Went for a little ride - first in over a month. I passed (I believe) a 2013 FJR on Hwy 44. Who was that?

Installed a set of riser blocks by BlackPath on Amazon. I'm 5'8" and this is perfect. Since the handlebars are now taller, it also makes the steering lighter as they are now more inline with my arms, making flicking the bike easier. Love it.

Walked by it and took the XR for a ride. I tried having a little too much fun in the wet muddy grass over frozen ground and ate it on a low side. I have to get some real tires on that thing. Its been a crazy winter with nearly no snow left, and a few days pushing up into the 50 in February.
