Wiped it down, swapped out the CBBD shield for the Yamaha touring shield, put on FOBO pressure/temp monitors. That was after a run to south Alabama Saturday.

Rode it to work today. The temp was right around 32F and there was a frost last night so the road surface was a little slick. No trouble however.

The ride home will be more fun.

That's for El Toro Joe.

I pulled her out of the dining room. Put the windscreen back on. Took her for a short ride. Brought her home and put T-Rex canyon cages on. She and I haven't been out on the road in 66 days. It was wonderful to get her out on the road today. There is still a lot of salt on the road, and I was very hesitant to take her out. But as Joe says, she's not art. If I keep her parked to reduce the chance of rust years down the road, I'm ripping myself off. I bought her to ride.

So thank you, El Toro Joe. I know you're waiting. I hope it gives you a little bit of comfort to know that I thought of you while I was out for my first ride of 2016 today.

Finally got it out of the shed after doing no maintenance whatever this winter. I'll get around to it sometime. Mostly cleaning, fluid changes, TBS. Minor stuff. Very good to be oot and aboot again even if it is just for the commute for work.

Rode to work, yet again. This week's weather is flippin awesome. :D

The farmers are working the fields, leaving a lot of large mud clots all over as they move from field to field across the road, makes for some handling practice.

Getting close to the time to pull the VStream and go back to the shorter OEM screen. Also getting closer to the time where the bike turns green from pollen, plus the need pull out the damn lawnmower...

^^^^^^^^ Well, I didn't do anything like that, but I did SCRAPE THE LEFT PEG! Rode to work on the neighborhood streets instead of Interstates this morning. Came around a little curve and saw the green arrow for my left turn. Didn't want to miss it, so goosed it up to 35 mph, leaned into the turn, and dragged the peg while accelerating from Hemphill onto 14th Street.

May not mean much to y'all, especially at 35 mph. To me, to me, it means that Michelin PR4s have earned my full confidence.

I had a problem grinding feelers after I put lowering brackets on. But I removed them by grinding them against the pavement. Much better now...

... a calculated risk.
That's exactly what it amounts to! If you're serious about riding every day unless it's insane to head out, then you have to take calculated gambles some days.

I've had to scrap snow off the shield and seat to ride through the slush in my work parking lot before getting out on the clear and wet roads. I've also shared the interstate with a motor cop while heavy hail turned the road completely white.

I really love when the temps are too warm for snow to stick, but it's snowing anyway while riding down the road because it reminds me of the old "stars flashing by" screen saver. Plus you just know that all the cage drivers are looking at you thinking your nuts, when in reality the risk is very minimal. :)

Put about 170 miles in today with a young guy who rides a ZX6R around here. Our mission was to take the long way to Champaign and hit up a dealership there. I am in search mode for a helmet, so we thought we would give this place a try.

Huge dealership. BMW, Kaw, Honda, Polaris, Suzuki, Yamaha, and a few others. At least 5 big building full of bikes, gear, and accessories. But guess what!! They do not carry Shoei, Arai, or even Bell(which is made 10 miles north). So it was a bust. But we got some riding in and I am doing my best to rid the world of one more squid. He knows if he rides with me, helmet, jacket, boots, and jeans are minimum. No gloves yet, but I am working on it.

I need to take care of him because he is my old bosses kid. She thinks we ride responsibly because I don't have a crotch rocket and am ATGATT.

Got home after dark though and got rained on. It was a great time.

Had two of my coworkers on this fine sunny day come to the house at 9am and yell at me to get my *** out of that house and go ride together before work. Im fortunate as I work with a great bunch of guys and in our department of 30 guys at least 20 of us ride some brand of 2 wheel fun machine. My entire 2nd shift crew we all ride and often meet up a few hours before work to take the long way in, unfortunately it often ends at the plant and we all want to just keep on riding.

Just bought a Rifle +5 Windshield, and the Rostra Universal Cruise control. Both purchases were kind of a no no... Don't tell my wife.

Now I need to find some stuff to sell...

Started doing some spring maintenance on the weekend.

Replaced the CCT with a green dot one, tricky job to get the lower bolt back in and tightened but not impossible.

Inspected the front calipers and found that there are strands of rubber coming out around the pistons, no leaks. Will need to replace the seals. Found a set of calipers on ebay with new pads for $50 and they're on the way so I won't have much downtime. Those seal kits are expensive!

Rear brake pivot is sticking, so it will need to be removed and greased.

Other wise the bike is ready to go, snow is almost all gone here now but the roads have lots of sand and salt on them. Need some good rain to wash them off.

Planning a June trip to NJ, PA and western NY with some friends. WooHoo.

Aujourd'hui, comme il faisait beau, je retourne à la maison tôt
then : cleaning workshop...

to reach the back of the windshield, I remove it!
after, do not forgot some grease for all screws, metal against metal is never good...

gapiob, I have really been enjoying your posts. Good content, good pics, and I am working on remembering my high school French lessons.

I see you have a pic of my sister in law on the side of your fairing, just behind the front turn signal. Why?
