What did you do to your FJR today?

Took it in today for a rear tire change, replace Doran TPMS sensors, and a coolant flush. Poured down rain on the way back, luckily I brought my IXS rain suit, so was dry all the way home. :)

Couldn't ride - 14 F and new snow on the ground. So did the next best thing. Pulled the wheels and went to Performance Cycle south of Denver. I got the new PR4 GTs that I bought last fall mounted. While I waited tried on some boots. Ended up buying some Alpinestars Gore-Tex boots. This year I bought some boots for my wife, myself, and put tires on the FJR. Hurry up spring, it's time to get on the road and make tracks

Sunday - I put a new set of shoes on red. A friend of mine (^^^^^^^^^) was thoughtful enough to give me a pair of 90 degree valve stems, but I left them in my tank bag as I drove off 45 minutes to get the tires mounted. Turning 50 does things to a man..... Meh - next time, I suppose.

Ahhh, to be 50 again......the good times. If only I could remember them......

Mines been sitting for a few days, 35*F is just too damn cold for nighttime riding for me to get home from work. Did find my PPS charger tho, figured it would show up sometime. I've taken to tucking it under the seat- never can tell with an 9 y/o OEM battery.

So, Saturday, as I posted above, I got PR4 GTs mounted. Sunday, I finally got enough people around to set the sag on the new fork springs and new Penske. Monday, I got a chance to put on a couple of hundred miles. What a difference. This has become one incredible bike. Straight line stability, agility, suspension that's compliant, yet can handle two up as well. Wow. The suspension and tires represent a considerable investment, but it was money well spent.

I think I need to ride again, today - just to make sure that my initial impression was accurate.

I walked past it to get to the snowblower to clear 8" of fresh white fluffy stuff from my driveway. Although the winter wasn't awful, spring is not arriving quickly. More snow later in the week so first ride of the season will be awhile.

Put a set of PR4s on Dad's '07 today. I was told Michelin no longer makes the PR3.

I don't know if that is true or not but I did not like hearing it.

In any case we put the standard PR4s and Pop said they did just fine.

^^^^ I suspect he'll like the PR4s.
We will see. I have the PR4 GTs on my '15 ES and I like them okay... I was kind of hoping to run a set of PR3s on it at least one time for comparison purposes.

They set his air pressures very low so he did not get a true feel for how they behave yet.

After doing some chores this morning, I took the FJR for a quick ride up HW74 to Idyllwild and back, 110 miles round-trip. Nothing terribly exciting, but it was too nice of a day here not to ride a little. It was 81 degrees in the desert, but 59 degrees across the Garner Valley. A bit nippy with no liner and the jacket vents open.

Tonight is the full moon. I've never ridden through Joshua Tree NP at night, and I figure it might be pretty cool to see with a big moon. Sunset is at 18:58, and the moonrise at 1926. I'll leave home around 1930 and head east on I10 to the south entrance to the park and head up Pinto Basin Rd to see what it looks like in the dark. I'm not sure if I'll come back the same way or exit the north side of the park and come home through Yucca Valley. I'll make it up as I go.

......... waiting for the full moon Joshua Tree ride report.

^^^^^ now THAT sounds like a great ride. What out for the nocturnal critters.
Yes, nocturnal critters. Saw a wolf Wednesday night about 9:30 in the right hand ditch. He was moving at a good clip toward a group of 8-10 whitetails I had seen about 100 yards previous. This was along Hwy. 200 in northwest Montana about 40 miles from the Idaho line.

Moved it out of the way, to change brake pads on my daughter's '12 Focus. Since when did they make it so that you need a special tool to push the rear piston in? Friggin' engineers. 😤
