Wired Garmin Zumo mount direct to battery this afternoon. Was concerned about all the unused arms in the spider cable and whether I'd find a place for them. Lots of space in fairing between rider's right knee and battery.

Put one of these on. Seems like a really well made piece. Nice touches like bracket extensions for the brake lines, Pretty easy install. Likey!

Been fun! First, a few days ago I replaced the driver foot peg rubbers. Mine were really worn and rounded. So, no big deal, right? Wrong. 3 of the 4 screws came out fine. The 4th I stripped the phillips head on. So I drilled the head off and hopped over to the hardware store. Dab of Locktite, good to go, but note to self: order the screws too. With everything, always order the screws. You'd think I would have learned that by now

So yesterday I got a few minutes to kill before taking a nap so I decide to replace my spark plugs. It's been a yr so WTH, I'll do it! 'Cept I rounded off the allen heads on both of the fuel tank front screws. So I get my banging/smashing tools out and tried first dinging around the hole so the allen key would fit tight but no joy there. Now it's time for the hammer/chisel/punch combo. Worked fine.

Only this time boys and gurls, I was prepared. I noticed last time I had the tank off that these screws were getting a little loose on the allen key so when I ordered something from somewhere I tossed a couple new ones onto the order. Good to go! In the end I patted myself on the back and reveled in my aura of ingeniousness.

Replaced the triple tree nut with a Techmount for my phone. I'm not normally a technogeek on the bike- gps is the only thing mounted and the phone usually goes in a saddlebag. But I figure I can always use a timer/altimeter/compass/weather display. So WTH, I'll give it a try. I installed a Battery Tender plug thingee some time ago so I picked up a USB power plug from my local Honda dealer. I can easily power the phone with it the way I routed it.

?.. The 4th I stripped the phillips head on. ....
You've been told before, it's not Philips, it's JIS.
The little screwdriver in the toolkit fits the head much better than a Philips (or Posidrive), but you can't get a lot of torque on it, so you may want to buy a better JIS driver.

Still, if you've replaced the screws, less need for the correct screwdriver. Until you come across another one ...

Blah blah. Toe-may-toe, tah-mah-toe. One tool- takes out 3 screws with no difficulty, immediately strips the head on the 4th. The problem is NOT the tool or the operator, it's the screws

. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it

I replaced the button head screw I stripped with a hex head cap screw so next time if (when!) I strip the head I can grab it with visegrips and geterdun.

Make sure they're metric visegrips or you'll be back to a hammer and punch.. lol

:)

They really are JIS screws. And it really does make a difference.

I like to apply a tiny dab of grease to the threads of the screws that I know I will be removing periodically. Makes it easier all the way around.

got these mounted...
Nice! Do they make a matching tank protector too?
yes...but I haven't ordered that kit as of yet, (not sure if I will) I put 102k miles on my 06, without any protectors, and it still looked ok when I got rid of it. I was more concerned about the bags, at this point

Joe, is yours the 'Snake Skin' or the 'C3"? Hard to see the difference in the tiny pics on their site.
