What did you do to your FJR today?

Took off a rear square PR2 tire with 5 plugs in it and replaced it with a General GMax AS-03. Why didn't someone tell me about Murphy's oil soap as a tire lube 20 years ago? That stuff worked better than anything I've ever tried.

Rode my 'new to me' red FJR into the office today. Looking forward to getting home tonight and discovering that the Brown Truck of Happiness has dropped off my new CalSci windshield and a pair of used Sargent seats.

Watched the coolant temp hit 230F while parked on I-75/85 at 3 pm this afternoon.

Anybody have a guess as to when the hoses will burst or explode off their radiator connections?

Life is good, eh, FJReady?

...
Certainly above 230F (110C). In any case, the radiator cap will allow steam to escape before any real damage is done, it is designed as a pressure relief valve.

Went to Tech day in Owosso. We changed the coolant, synched the throttles, and installed a new green dot CCT.

Then rode 3 1/2 hrs home in the cold rain,

Yeah...the ride home was not much fun...but since I got my Centech fuse block installed, along with the plug for my heated liner, at least I wasn't freezing...nice and toasty. Also got the Piaa horns installed...thanks to all that helped.

Installed my Cee Bailey windscreen. Just about finished the Valentine One and TPMS install. Should be able to wrap it up in the morning and then Go Ride! Supposed to be 77F, 86F & 73F over the next few days here in Seattle!! :)

Changed oil, filter, final drive oil, polished the gas tank and cleaned the screen. Took about 20 minutes.

Changed oil and filter on the KTM 950. Had to remove crash bar, left fuel tank, skid plate, oil return check valve to clean screen, clean another screen on opposite side of bike from oil filter, Make a dipstick out of a chopstick so I can see the oil level in the tank, Clean up the oil I spilled all over #@%!&**% everything, then bolt up all the stuff laying in the driveway. Had to take a nap before finishing.

Among its other attributes, the FJR makes me feel like an accomplished mechanic/ service tech.

The KTM, not so much.

Installed the aforementioned CalSci Large and the gently used Sargent seat. Both made positive contributions to my riding comfort.

I also dug into my tail light cluster wiring to add taps for my 3rd blake light flasher/LIN3 set up which is on order. And because I love soldering in tight spaces so much, I added leads to the headlight relay harness that will go to my FuzeBlock trigger circuit someday. It's so much fun working in there under the instrument cluster. My hands look like I've been fighting with a cat!

All good, no complaints. Gen 3 happiness continues!

Let's see, not today, but lately... bought a Gigi v47 tech, installed a Throttlemeister, flushed the clutch fluid last night and I'm expecting a pair of FZ1 mirrors to be delivered tomorrow. Clutch fluid was a pain in the butt being so close to the fairing. And it helps if you assemble the darn Mighty-vac correctly. I had it setup so that it was sucking the fluid into the MV piston. Damn thing spit all over me. Fortunately not on the bike. Brakes will get flushed later this week or this weekend. Oh and I caved in and bought the Olympia Switchback mesh jacket yesterday too. It's been an expensive month. ☺. Oh I forgot..... added a pair of PIAA's to it as well.

I parked it.

I unloaded the luggage and left it looking about as filthy as it ever has. It has 2034 more miles on it than it did when I last posted anything here.

Since I am actually "Typing for two", Dad's bike is just as filthy and I helped him unload his as well. They will probably both get washed tomorrow.

Is the report typed yet...with AWESOME photos and commentary? No?

Lazy *******.

Just because you are exhausted and have lots of stuff to do is by NO MEANS a defense.

This is where I say just kidding...because I am...and flip the bird at all people demanding instant gratification. Motorcycle touring is fun, and can be exhausting...it is exhausting.

But with enough fun to make you flip with bird at everyone whilst a tired smile opens up, thinking about the good times.

I was all gung-ho to do some work on the bike today. I opened the garage door and did a calculation in my head about how much time it was going to take to move enough stuff to work on the bike.
I then got depressed, closed the garage door and went back to bed.

You'll get no sympathy from me. Your priorities are obviously screwed up.

I know yer the last King of Poland and all but, with all due respect, someone who WANTS to ride the FJR...doesn't put a bunch of **** in front of it.

Got back from GA Tuesday night. Rough week of riding down there in the rain, schedule changes for my SIM sessions f-ing up my GA TOH plans, not to mention not riding with UncleHud on the way home, then getting soaked going home made for a miserable 8 days. Still, it beats working for a living.
