My friend (in my most smug and superior tone) he may have a bit of trouble fitting the FZ-1 under his seat. He has the Superior ES version and there is a module for that system located in that space.Abercrombie - My FZ-1 is mounted under the rider's seat. I fear that is your only practical choice at this point.
Hopefully just the kick stand like the rest of us....Found out today, that my check engine light works...
Since I am just all about attacking my friends today...So, I started a project yesterday. A few days ago I reported that I washed my bike and found my forks leaking. No biggie anyway, as it really is time for a refresh. The problem is I have the OEM shock installed because the Wilbers also needs to be sent off for a rebuild.
The guys who own and work at the bicycle shop where we purchase and maintain our work bikes are mostly serious dirt bike riders. They just so happen to know the guy who sets up everyone's suspension around here. Turns out he's been working suspension for 20 years and has his **** together. He's also a really cool dude. So...
I called him on Friday and asked him about rebuilding my Wilbers and my forks, and setting up my FJR. He wasn't sure about the Wilbers but told me to bring it by. While he was checking it out, he told me he had just finished rebuilding an OEM FJR shock. Said it was a PITA, but doable, and a decent platform. He said the Wilbers will be easy and he'll order the parts on Tuesday...Sweet.
Hopefully, in the next week or two, my bike will finally have the suspension set up for me. Someone with knowledge, instead of me hodge-podging crap together, while having no idea what I'm doing will be awesome...I can't wait.
More to come...
Hope to get it taken care of before leaving for SEO, Friday morning.Hopefully just the kick stand like the rest of us....Found out today, that my check engine light works...
Listen dork...You bring that colorless contraption up here. We'll run some roads at some questionable speeds. Do it quick so I still have my inferior suspension installed. Last one to the top buys the beer...or better yet, I get to push all those fancy buttons on your bike, and you can't change them for 1k miles. Haha...Since I am just all about attacking my friends today...So, I started a project yesterday. A few days ago I reported that I washed my bike and found my forks leaking. What do you mean by "finally have the suspension set up for me."??? Can't you just scroll through the menu and choose one of the adjustment options? How difficult is that anyway? :tease:
Sorry 'Zilla. I know that was not fair. I know how much difference it made on Dad's bike to upgrade the rear shock and get the forks rebuilt, I cannot even imagine what a full custom suspension would be like. Please let us know how it turns out.
I really like my PDM60 for just this reason. No more fuses to burn and carry around.^^^^ Cat fight!!
Yesterday, I put the new tail section on the bike, started messing with the GPS and it is all hooked up and ready to go. I just need to spend some computer time and get some SD cards leaded with the correct maps. Use the cards as sections for where I am going to be riding.
My next project absolutely has to be a fuze block. I have 6 wires going to the Pos terminal and 5 going to the Neg. I had to change screw length to get all those under the posts. But between the heated grips, HID lights,Heated Gear, GPS power, phone charger, and various other stuff, it is difficult to get the plastic back on over the battery.
Oh well, that will have to wait until after SEO.
Actually that picture doesn't do the setup justice because I cleaned it up since then. I removed all fuses inline to have the PDM60 manage everything and I tie-wrapped the wires in a better bundle. I made the aluminum bracket to hold the PDM in the tail section of the bike. If you need info, let me know and I can send you some more pictures and measurements of the bracket.AlleyCat, I really like the look of that set up. The birdsnest of wires would be much more manageable the way you have it!
I liked the Hella's when I used them, but I found LED lights to be more effective while using less electricity for about the same price. There are many suppliers, but here is one example: ADVmonster LED lightsInstalled the Givi SR357 and V47. Also installed a Whelen LIN-3 stop light wired through 3rd brake light flasher. And a couple Powerlet pigtails to power my heated jacket and tank bag.
Next up will probably be auxiliary forward lighting. I liked the Hella FF50s I had on the '05. May go that route again.
