I don't know if it's the economy or the population. The 2008 recession killed off the (to use a broad stroke) 20-something Sportbike market. I don't know if watercraft and ATV sales tanked similarly, but it wouldn't be surprising. Add in the dealer's mindset (gradually downsizing with an eye toward selling/closing?), vs expansion &/or adding another manufacturer in Yamaha's place, and a lot of things are in play. BMW had record years in '14 and '15. My understanding is that Ducati and Triumph were up in those years too.

Lots of variables. Sorry for straying OT.

Like 08FJR4ME WynPro Dave, I had the heated grips on high for the mid 20's commute to work. I need to check the grip's program settings, they may have 'summer' settings. The traffic was unusually light the whole way to work, it was really odd. As people trickled into work an hour or two late I realized that the reason the traffic is light is because everyone else is in line VOTING and the lines are long and slow. I'll be leaving early to go stand in line in my little town.

Original plan was to try and beat the crowds, but the polls didn't open here until 7AM.

(FJR content) Son texted me last night and said he's going to ride the B4home this afternoon the hour and a half slab ride from VT to do his civic duty (He's still a NH resident and registered here), so I decided I'd wait and stand in line with him this afternoon.

Looks to be a record turn out this year. Wonder if we'll break the 50% of eligible voters mark for the first time in 80 years?

Set the heated grips to high this morning on the way into work. Tis the season.
Dave
I did the same thing, but had to turn them to Med. after a couple of miles.

Awesome sunny day for a fall ride.

I also had my Honda ST1300 grips turned up to 75% on the commute this morning. Wait, don't lynch me for not riding a FJR. :) I was riding my 07 FJR, which happens to have Honda heated grips installed. ;)

All this waiting in line to vote talk makes me glad to live here in WA because we no longer have ANY in person voting (unless you're handicapped). All ballots are mailed in, so at 4:30 this morning I tossed my wife and my ballots in the ballot box near me at a Park and Ride parking lot as I headed to work. You can mail it US Mail if you want to put a stamp on it, or they have permanent ballot boxes installed (think large US Mailbox) at various locations in state.

The traffic commute into work was light here also. It didn't take long to figure out why. Had the heated grips all the way up and enjoyed the warmth. The day heated up rapidly and we had to shed some clothing for the ride home. I put the bike away and hopped in the cage to go vote. The early voting really helped out here with the crowds. It was steady but a short weight to do my civic duty. Let's all pray for a positive outcome.

. . . so at 4:30 this morning I tossed my wife and my ballots in the ballot box near me at a Park and Ride parking lot . . . .
Bet she's gonna be pissed. Just sayin'.

Actually.....I was thinking what a great way to get the wife outta the house for a while. Plus you get to vote more than once. But only on the left coast I guess, the wimmins over here are too manly to put up with such shenanigans.

Rode it to my new job -- at 1800 Peachtree Street -- through the winding streets of in-town residential Atlanta. The weather's cooled off now, and leaves are falling all over the streets. Makes for a pleasant visual "whooosh" as you ride through them.

Rode to work , and now for an extended lunch (ride) break, including a ride around some of the lakes, and them who knows where autopilot will take me on the ride home.

It was 35 degrees when I started my commute today. Got to test the Pinlock faceshield insert again and it works fine. Even with sunglasses behind it. Also got to use the heated grips and heated jacket today. Guess it's getting to be that season...

Rode the 08 to work today. Why does it seam that the old bike just fits me so mutch better than the new one?
Buyer's remorse?

I'm fairly certain that the ergonomic dimensions are the same, except the 3rd Gen footpegs are a slightly thicker rubber. Handlebars are the same, seat and frame is the same, so hands, feet, torso angles should be pretty much identical.

That is, of course, unless you've added some farkles or mods to the old 2nd Gen that aren't on the 3rd yet.

Just thought of one more thing: The old 2nd Gen A shock is softer sprung, and therefore will sag more than the 3rd Gen will. So the steering angles will be steeper, quicker and marginally less stable on the new bike.

No, just not use to the new bike. I just feel more at home on the old one. Lots of memorys too. The new one does sit higher due to the increased spring rate in the rear. That and having the RDL on it brings the height up even more. Seems as though I lean forward more. The handlebars may not be set all the way back also. I need to take a look at that this weekend. I have all winter to slowly fine tune the G3 to get it where I it needs to be.

Stapled my front Seat Concepts foam and cover a couple weeks ago. Just got around to doing the rear today.
