Skiing has been so lame out west that our local ski area has only been able to keep open on man made snow on the one primary run. And it's the best option in the state. With my season pass costing $450 and going up only 5 times averaging about 6 to 7 runs my cost per run is around $15.00. By this time of year my cost per day average is usually lower than that.

Probably gonna be hot and smokey this summer. :(

PLEASE SEND US YOUR SNOW! (We'll even take your slow melting, high water content, heavy, frozen or slushy slop.)
Oh, Richie - 'twere it that easy...Does it help you to know that I think of you virtually every time I shovel out my hot tub ? :p
'Twould be more flattering if it 'twere the hot tub part of that instead of the shoveling part that you were referencing. ;)

Lots of soft landing points if you take a tumble in the moguls ;)
And with the daily freeze/thaw cycle we've been getting, we have your eastern boilerplate moguls here. That, or low enough on the mountain in the afternoon, mogul runs with rocks showing through where it's thawed to wet slop. At least Telluride picked up some recent snow, so I have a week to look forward to (before OUR summer MC stopover) with better conditions than it looks like I'll see here this winter.

Wishing you a respite from the shoveling, Mary Ellen . . . even if it is Rocky Mountain dry powder there in N.B.

What do you mean ride to work weather? I have been riding to work every night. Scar is parked outside and he is filthy from riding back and forth in the rain. In fact I got caught in the rain last week after I left my friendly neighborhood Yamaha dealer...

My Harley riding coworkers are making comments about my stupidity for riding in the cold and rain. If I did not ride it back and forth to work I would not get to ride it at all. This winter is never going to end.

May be the best name for a bike I have ever heard.

Got to ride for a couple of hours today, nice and sunny, saw a high of 41, topped off the tank, added stabilizer, parked it.

now down to 25 on our way to a low of 14 with a couple of inches of snow on what was bare ground.

Got to love Midwestern winters.................Don't like what ya got, wait a sec, we'll change it.

Similar here, Tues we had mid 50's and beautiful! Last night the front came through, 6" of white shit and it is 8f outside now. Give it a week!

Got hammered pretty good by the latest "winter event" to roll through. About 12" of wet, heavy snow last night. Unusual for us but not unheard of. Everything has ground to a halt.

At least your fresh 12" of powder will be melted away and a distant memory, while we are still waiting to come out of hibernation for another month at least up here.

Enjoy the down time. Sometimes a "stay home, snow day" is an OK thing.

Were are theoretically going to get some much needed snow. I know you east coast folks would be glad to ship some this way.

All those dirty looking chunks in the snow are pieces of ice I chipped out of the frozen rain gutter on the house. Kinda like a dirty ice cube maker, but at least it's not dripping on the deck now.

Did I mention it hasn't been great riding weather?

Glad (or sorry?) to hear I wasn't the only one doing that. I think it every year but after this coming Fall, these are going up properly beforehand. Right now they're just snaked along the gutter and downspouts but have still definitely helped over the past few weeks.

That's why up north many (most) folks eschew gutters. They are the major cause of ice dams and who really cares if the water drips off the roof in the summer? Throw some crushed stone around the foundation and you're good to go.

Now, unfortunately I do have an asphalt shingled roof. I wish it were a raised ridge metal roof as then all the F&%$ing snow would just slide off and I wouldn't have to worry about snow loads or ice dams at all (just roof avalanches). My next house, if it is still somewhere in New England, which since I seem to be a glutton for punishments is a real possibility, will have a metal roof for sure.

Thanks for the link. I think one session of ice disposal and that is paid for. The snow melts off the sunny western facing roof then freezes in the sub-zero gutter and it creates an ice dam and swells, pulling the gutter from the facia. Not good.

Over an inch of rain last night.

Now it's snowing huge fifty cent piece size flakes. Squaw Valley ski resort had 17 inches over night, Exskibum must be real happy.

It's so dang dry we will party over any form of moisture.

Shouldn't be complaining since we've had such a mild winter.

Started snowing about 7:30 this morning. About 3" on the drive 3 hours later.

With visibility about 1/10 mile and wind at 15-20 I decided I would just leave the drive alone since the high is projected to hit 41 this afternoon. Figured I'd let most of it melt off.

Problem is the city snow plow just made his first run and now I have a giant berm of hard packed snow across the end of my drive. I guess I'll go out and clear the berm anyway.

Could be worse. At least I don't have to go to work.

We got about 4" last night. It was awesome. My oldest daughter and I had to drive cross the mountain to my mom's to take a horse to the vet. Had to use four wheel drive on the highway because there was so much snow. Pictures to follow...
