...We need to bring Wheaties out here again to break this drought. Last time he was out in 2011, the Sierra passes weren't all open until late June, IIRC...
Hey,

You guys pass the hat for travel expenses, and I am your rainmaker...

...next year.

This year would be too expensive for you...cuz I'd lose my job for the eight week trip it would require for the strong rain juju needed. I'd lose my job for sure with that eight week trip, and you guys can't afford to pay a structural engineer for life. No, this year would be too expensive for you.
I'm afraid we're F'ed for this year, Mark. But please submit a proposal with two or three alternative schedules for the winter of '15 - '16. I'll post it on a couple bulletin boards up at the summit and maybe we can come up with the funds to get you (and your proven track record) out here. Now that you're living in the south, however, we'll probably need some assurances that you can still produce snow, and not just ice storms.

;) :p

Been warm-ish this weekend - in the low 40's and sunny right aboot now.

While getting the bike out for a spin is tempting, the possibility of hitting a pothole big enough to house a family of four doesn't have much attraction.

I'll wait 'til the road crews get the big 'uns patched.

I went skiing today at Seven Springs. Beautiful sunny day and finally hit 40 degrees. For the first time this year, I didn't feel like I was skiing in a zero visibility subzero freezer. I'm actually seeing some patches of earth. The ice formations on the shale cliffs are really impressive. I'll have to get some pictures before it goes away.

It's sunny.

Upper 60's.

Light breeze.

It smells like spring.

.......

And my bike is 1000 miles away.

<sigh>

PMS sucks donkey balls.

Raining kinda. Sadly, little to no snow to accompany this minor front in the higher elevations. Ski season looking all but over here. Riding season never really went away this year. Unfortunately, the upcoming fire season could be early, long and very scary.

Standby. There is some even weirder freakin' weather headed your way.

It's okay, you've earned it by riding all winter.

The ten day forecast is calling for high 60s to mid 70s after tonight, but I'm off to Telluride for a week on the 21st. My cat and room mate can bask in the sun on the deck while my lodging that first week of spring will be at 10,000 ft.

Anyone taking bets on when the passes will open? Oh yeah, be seeing youze guys soon. Wife took a job to reinstate with the State of CA. So I guess I don't need to change my forum name.

That's GREAT news, Tom! Next pass ride with you, though, and we're all checking our wallets after each stop. :p

Which corridor (50 or 80) are you looking at for housing? Season pass for you maybe? Let me talk you into Sugar Bowl? Their "slightly restricted" pass includes three day passes at Squaw/Alpine and takes only five days for it to pay for itself (as against daily tickets). My number one ski buddy used to live in Fair Oaks, but moved to Telluride, so I'm soliciting. ;)

A bit under 40 for the first ride in of the year. Forecast for mid 60's later today. And I did see/find a couple of ice puddles from the refreeze overnight. Second day of riding, not bad for the north country.

Maybe I can bring back some real winter weather. There sure hasn't been a shortage here, and I'm heading to Seven Springs this morning for some bluebird spring skiing. I think our current base 36-56" is more than the Sierra areas. For housing, I think it's going to be an apartment rental in Folsom until we can deal with the property in PA. Anyway, Mary Ann looks to be starting in early May.

Let's just say I'll be splitting time between where we live now and where we might live. If you read between the lines that sounds like at least two or three summer cross-country motorcycle trips.
