The snow on the street I live on is "almost" melted - still 3-4 feet in the yard. There is a navigable track the full length of the street and the main roads are bare; although salty. I was almost beginning to believe that I would eventually get to ride this season. 7°F this morning with windchill well below 0. Up to a foot of new snow forecast for Sunday. Temperatures are to be well below "normal" for at least the next week. (Might make it as high as the freezing mark for daytime highs.)

Happy Friday!

Anyone taking bets on when the passes will open? Oh yeah, be seeing youze guys soon. Wife took a job to reinstate with the State of CA. So I guess I don't need to change my forum name.
That's GREAT news, Tom! Next pass ride with you, though, and we're all checking our wallets after each stop.

Which corridor (50 or 80) are you looking at for housing? Season pass for you maybe? Let me talk you into Sugar Bowl? Their "slightly restricted" pass includes three day passes at Squaw/Alpine and takes only five days for it to pay for itself (as against daily tickets). My number one ski buddy used to live in Fair Oaks, but moved to Telluride, so I'm soliciting.

All we lack is vertical

Down hill skiing with out the hill.

It drops enough to be fun just off the horizon of that shot. I think North Face slopes are about 800 vertical. Makes me feel like a hero cause I can ski the whole thing without stopping. At the western ski areas, that burns. Hey, I knew what I was in for when I came east.

It was beautiful today. A little break with some wind and a threat of rain, but that never happened and it's back to like 70°. Currently can't beat that with a stick.

Raining kinda. Sadly, little to no snow to accompany this minor front in the higher elevations. Ski season looking all but over here. Riding season never really went away this year. Unfortunately, the upcoming fire season could be early, long and very scary.
Standby. There is some even weirder freakin' weather headed your way.

It's okay, you've earned it by riding all winter.
The ten day forecast is calling for high 60s to mid 70s after tonight, but I'm off to Telluride for a week on the 21st. My cat and room mate can bask in the sun on the deck while my lodging that first week of spring will be at 10,000 ft.

Tom,Tom,Tom, first you show up here in PA and get Lyme disease, then we have two of the most God-awlful winters and now you want to leave!!! What the Hell??

Let's try to meet up sometime before you take off! Meet for Sunday breakfast or??

I have some time ahead and won't be going anywhere soon. I look forward to seeing you again, ya slacker!

Um, PA has not played nice with me now that you mention it.

This time three years ago, I rode my bike to New Brunswick from Florida where I had it stored for the winter. A bit chilly on the last leg of the trip but still (just) above freezing when I got home. The following week, we had temperatures in the high seventies / low eighties. Shift to 2015 with a blizzard warning for tomorrow and 12"-18" of snow + wind. The weather gods haven't been playing nice in the Northeast this year; even worse than last year! Long range forecast doesn't show any "break" in the weather but just a GRADUAL warming with temperatures remaining fairly uniformly 5-10 °F below normal into the third week of April. Global warming, my ass!

The forcast calls for sunny and 76 tomorrow. Time for the first real ride of the year. I think I will take in a little ride through the Minnesota lakes country.

Snowing horizontally for the last 20+ hours. No idea how much is down - driveway varies from bare to 4 feet of snow. I went out and cleared it a couple of hours ago and you can't even tell I did anything. Good thing spring is almost here.

50 F here today, recent warm weather and rain melted about 90% of the snow that was still on the ground and cleaned off the roads nicely. FINALLY got out for my first ride of the year.

Sunny and 76 degrees in beautiful North Dakota today. We went out for an hour ride to put some break in miles on the Tenere, and the wife got to try out her new Memphis Shades Bat Wing fairing on her Sportster Custom. I also grilled ribs, installed new knock off levers on the FJR and Tenere and straightened up the garage a little. Tomorrow we are back to reality with the 10 day forecast in the 40s.
