This isn't the first time Tim has mentioned the KEBOBS. He was quizzing me about them just recently upon finding out that I know/ride with you. I am in if you are cooking Lebanese style kebobs. I'll trust Tim's judgement on this one.
You be there and you shall not be disappointed :)

We just need a grill.
Call the hotel in Oakhurst. I believe they had some BBQ devices there that customers can use.

Availability is tight this year in Oakhurst so I've found the White Chief Mtn Lodge has enough rooms available if we act fast. Rooms are $ 102 to 108, and depending on how many sign up the price may drop. It's located in Fish Camp which is between Oakhurst and the park entrance. Parking lot is paved and they have a BBQ we can use. There's also a restaurant on site too.

BOOK NOW !!!! You must state your with the HIGHLANDER group to get a discount on rooms.

FJR or Strom? Anyone wanna test ride the DL? If my screen is here in time, I'll most likely run the Big Ugly, if no one objects.

Excellent question, Rob. I have that Friday off, and was generally planning to head down from Auburn starting sometime around noon +/- an hour or so. 3 or 5 bikes or so would make for a fun jaunt down 49 through most of the length of the gold country.

If you guys get there early on Friday there are a ton of great roads around Oakhurst. There's a loop around Bass Lake that's pretty nice, there's super twisty dead end Minarets Rd or the dead end Beasore Rd, ( both of these connect with a dirt road.... Strom territory!!! ) There's a pretty nice loop around Auberry using Redinger Rd up past the dam. There's Road 415 to Road 600 ( my usual path to Oakhurst ) out of Coarsegold also !!!

Interesting, I'll be riding the reverse of this route from Morro Bay to Auburn this weekend see: https://www.bmwnorcal.org/49er/

Can't afford fuel costs and motels, so gotta get in the Spring camping fix, but I am riding an FJR. Oh Boy, Fast (flat track) Friday at the Fairgrounds! BTW, how long does it take you to get to Oakhurst from Auburn?

Can give a report on Oakhurst & north on 49 next Monday, if anyone is interested?

About 4.5 to 5 hours by my recollection between Oakhurst and Auburn on 49. And yes, a pre-ride road condition/construction report would be welcome. Sent you a PM -- maybe you can give that report to me in person over a beverage.

I forgot the Beemer rally was here this weekend. I will likely be wrenching on either the FJR (installing Muzzy system and PCIII) or the XX (rear tire, at least) in my condo's garage. That garage is about a driver and 3 wood south of the flat track at the Fairgrounds, and my office is about the same distance to the west (I'm looking out my window at the Fairgrounds parking lot right now). Too bad the Beemer rally requires $35+ a head AND a BMW or BMW rider sponsorship to get in or my GF and I would probably walk over for a few hours this weekend. Possible we might go to Fast Fridays to watch the races, though.

Katrinas is always a good choice. (Not sure, but I may eat at home and take care of a few early morn tasks on that one day off, however -- and meet you at Katrinas for the departure.)

SO . . . kickstands up time of 10:30 to 11:00 would be my preference for earliest time out. Otherwise, we'll be at the Lodge before we can check in, and with PLENTY of sunlight left for Friday forays around Oakhurst and Bass Lake even after check in time.

DOH, I forgot: it's Cindy who is the slow eater! 11 am departure it is!!! :p ;)

Room reservation made. The rate is now down to $86.00. The more the cheaper! I have to work in Stockton on the departure Friday so we may be leaving straight from there at around 4:00 p.m.
