    Inconsiderate FJR Rider

I take the Seattle ferries a lot to get to open roads quickly without having to fight my way through city traffic. Motorcycles get to go straight to the front of the line, so that's where all of the bikes are, and usually there is extra time while we wait to load. What I like is that no matter...

    The fjr is pretty quick

Still most of those cars would easily kick your butt on the track, though. Car vs. Motorcycle (Top Gear)

    Thinking of FJR

ST: Better wind protection No damage when dropped (@0 mph) Better standard warranty Terrible stock seat Engine slightly on the boring side (but will go 200,000+ miles) Fat pig Ugly without bags Needs premium gas Heat issue still unresolved FJR: Needs after-market shield for LD touring The...

    New 2008, First Questions

Brakes will improve dramatically over the next few hundred miles if your bike is still brand new, especially the rear brake. I was at first afraid the brakes were insufficient for the bike when it was new, but with 1,400 miles on it now they work great, no complaints.

JUNK on the shaft drain plug

Are you sure it's Yamalube? It's $30+ per quart here in the U.S. My dealer also didn't stock it ("nobody buys that"), and set me up with Bel Ray Gearsaver 80w90 (<$10/quart).

    Leftover '07 AE'S

While a lot of people who own them seem to swear by them, dealers apparently find them hard to move. When I bought my 07 A in April of this year they were almost begging me to test ride the 07 AE that they had in stock. They would have sold it to me for $1,000 less than the A, $10,999 (plus...

    New tall windscreen

Yep, that sounds right. I sit very upright, if I just crouch down a few inches it's perfect. Unfortunately that's not a comfortable rising position for me.

    New tall windscreen

I'll definitely take you up on that offer. Thanks!

    New tall windscreen

I'm 6'0" as well and I find the Yamaha Touring Shield causes some buffeting for me on my 07 (handlebars in far back position). Also hits the top 2 inches or so of my helmet, which makes it noisy. Interesting that it's working well for so many others with my height. :confusedsmiley: If anyone...

    North Jersey Windscreen Testing

That's what I thought, but the Yamaha Touring Shield is +4 and it really doesn't cut it for me. I think the shape plays a pretty important part in reducing turbulence and its ability to push the air pocket up high enough to not put pressure on your back.

    North Jersey Windscreen Testing

I bought the Yamaha touring screen, hoping it would raise it up enough to create an air bubble. I'm 6'0, 32" inseam and it doesn't, the wind hits me just above the visor which makes it still pretty noisy in my Arai and my head gets tossed around from the turbulence. I actually prefer the steady...

    Purchasing a FJR1300A or AE

Same experience here. I was offered an 07 AE for a thousand dollars LESS than an 07 A. That has to have an impact on resale value. Of course, if you get a great deal on it to begin with then it's probably a wash in the end.

    Purchasing a FJR1300A or AE

I went to three dealer here in Seattle before buying an A, and every one of them offered a test ride. I would never buy from a dealer who doesn't allow me to take it for a ride first. As far as AE vs. A goes, that's a personal choice nobody can help you with. You really should ride them both and...

    Goodbye to the Forum

Problem with that line of argument is that people who have the failure are a lot more likely to research it on the Web and to end up on an online discussion board. Those that never have a problem are happy riding around the country.

    Goodbye to the Forum

Need to help out those "poor" BMW dealers here. ;) The dealer I worked with here in Seattle was always great. No snootiness, great service department, never met anyone who I didn't thoroughly enjoy dealing with. Does it come at a price? Sure. But I'm willing to pay extra for good service...

    Wot, no sliders?

Sorry about your mishap! Looks like it could have been a lot worse, though. I hope you find comfort in knowing that most of us have laid down their bike one time of the other. Only seems like with the FJR the result is more severe than with many other bikes. Taking delivery of my new FJR...

New Zero Miles 2007 FJR: $12500 OTD

Same here. Used to be the guy who'd keep going back and forth between 5 different dealers until I knew for certain I had the very best deal I could possibly get, down to the last hundred bucks. Sales guys hated my guts. Now I just don't get the satisfaction out of the deal any more as much as I...
