    Will I like the FJR?

I sold my Bandit 1200 to get an FJR last summer. I liked the FJR, but realized that I still liked the less weight and more sport-oreinted naked bikes, so I recently sold my FJR and got a Triumph Speed Triple. I don't regret it at all. The FJR is THE bike for commuting, and sporty touring, if...

    Trashed Paint on New '06???

While the dealer should fix this, sometimes it's just easier to get out the polish and buff out the clearcoat scratches and be done with it. Plus if it was the dealer that scratched it up like this I wouldn't bother having them fix it for me. Better yet, take it to a detail shop and get an...

    Suzuki Bandit vs FJR

I had a 2001 Bandit 1200 naked version that I sold and then picked up an 05 FJR. As mentioned the windprotection on the FJR is great as well as the seating position. I had a Corbin on my Bandit and I'd say it was just as comfy as my Corbin on my FJR. The main thing I miss about the Bandit is...

    Insurance for FJR

Give Geico a year to gain claim stats on the 06 and I bet the rates drop massively. In 05 I called and got quoted on a 2005 (when it just came out). Their rate was in the 900's for full coverage. 6 months later, I got quoted for the same coverage at $370 a year! I asked why the difference...

    Extending my warranty advice

Indeed it is. I'll probably not do anything until closer to the time the factory warranty runs out, which is about 4 weeks from now. Mike

    Extending my warranty advice

My 2005 I bought used only had the regular one year warranty and it runs out 5-26-06. The bike now has 5400 miles on it and all is well. I wouldn't normally buy into a warranty on a Japanese bike as all of the ones I've had have been indestructible. But...I know from residing here that some...

Installing goldvalves without their rebound kit

thanks for the quick reply 3dogs. I noticed that RT likes to use skinny springs in the FJR which makes them very noisy. I was planning on using Sonic Springs. So with the rebound kit you can still adjust rebound with the adjuster on the fork? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've only...

    PILOT POWER tires

I don't see the point of Powers on an FJR. Even with quality ST compound tires like Stradas or Avon AV45/46, the bike will run out of cornering clearance WAY before the tires lose their grip. Seems silly to me to put on stickies unless you're really a cut and thrust late braking FJR rider...

Installing goldvalves without their rebound kit

I've had it with the completely wrong spring and damping rates on my 2005 FJR. On my last bike I installed the Racetech goldvalves and springs with excellent results. I'd like to do the same with the FJR but I noticed they offer the rebound kit as well as compression kit. With my Bandit i...

    Insurance

I'm pretty close to yours but we have a couple additional vehicles. Erie insurance on the 4 wheel vehicles. Geico for the FJR. 50/100/50 on the bike, 100/300/100 on the Titan. I live in rural Lancaster county, Pennsylvania 05 FJR ABS $380 full coverage 04 Titan 4x4 $650 full coverage 95...

    4 in 2 one

I had a Muzzy full system on my Bandit 1200 for 3 years before I sold the bike. Great power, great sound and never had a problem with it. It was no louder than the Holeshot slip-on I had on the bike. Can't comment on customer suervice since it never broke in 20,000 miles of sportriding...

Dunlop D208 ZR on the FJR

D280ZRs will wear out VERY quickly on an FJR. They are soft sportbike tires. Mike

the gap take a look see

421 through Shady Valley is awesome. Not near as tight as 129 through the dragon, but more 180 degree switchbacks and faster speeds. I like it and for me it's a lot closer than Deal's Gap. Mike

the gap take a look see

Yeah his form was pretty bad. This road will defintely sharpen cornering skills. I saw lots of FJRs when I was down last summer. Most of them were just putting around with passengers, but some were really moving. I'm planning on taking the FJR down next summer. Mike

the gap take a look see

It's a fun fun fun fun road for sure. Been there twice with my Bandit. Definitely a serious road an zero margin for error, but addicting as hell. Last trip down I put about 300 miles on the Dragon alone. I need new knee pucks too! Mike

Anyone notice stones flying up off front wheel

Yeah I'll have to check out the rad guards. The stones were really smacking off it. I'm wondering if this is just a trademark of the stock BT020s. I've had many other tires on my last bike and they never flung up stones like these. Mike

Anyone notice stones flying up off front wheel

Today the snow melted and the temps were in the 40s so I got my 05 out and rode to my dr. appt. Just out of my driveway I rode through some less than pea-sized gravel that the township put on the roads the day before. Immediately I could hear the stones hitting the under side of the front...

    Back to suspension issues

I hear ya and see where you're coming from. I never said TD was a ripoff, it's just expensive for me personally. And yes, I know the learning curve for working on forks is STEEP, and many make stupid mistakes ruining their forks. For my first install of RT components on my Bandit 1200 all...

    Back to suspension issues

Yeah Max told me that same thing, that most people who bought his product would bitch up the install then complain. Unfortunately for those of us that like to wrench on our own bikes both to save money, and because we enjoy wrenching, have only one option: Racetech. I just got a quote from Max...

Just got my seat back from Sargent

You paid less for a new one than I sold my used Sargent seat for. Sounds like you got a great deal. Mike
