Well, I just got home...and what has been unobtanium for close to a year is now....obtained...looks like Friday will be test day...

I'm betting when you plug the sucker in you will be good to go and good to cruise.

Ran the first limit test on my 2014. I just held the "Resume" button until it hit a wall at 103mph (indicated). Let up and it regulated at that speed.
It's kind of fun accelerating with a rocker switch.

Did that with my wing just for research, got up to 110 indicated and left it there for a few clicks than cancelled. Rather run the throttle myself at higher speeds.

"Ahhh, Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed."

After a 45 minute remove and replace procedure the new ECU was placed in its new home. Temperatures here in the northland are brisk. Test flight was taken at 37 degrees indicated on the FJR's thermometer. Bike fired immediately after replacement. No other actions were required. Only thing I lost was my current trip mileage. Everything was same as before. Start was immediate and she settled right in at 1100 rpm. Out to the freeway and a quick run up to 84, engaged the CC and engagement was immediate. Up and down adjustments work just fine.

For those who want to get by the limiter...construction of a 2013.5 FJR1300 is a viable option.

SUCCESS!

How much did it hurt? $$

They just raised the I-90 Speed Limit in SD to 80 MPH, now have the need for 85 MPH Cruise Control

... and the new ECU is not all "loss". The old one has a value that can be recovered.

This has been an amusing thread, and they all lived happily ever after too :)

Congratulations 2013 owners!!!

The resale value of every 2013 FJR just went up by several hundred dollars.

Are their any Yamaha dealers around that would be interested in setting up some sort of a group purchase?

Is there a geek around that could peel the onion and find the exact code difference between the 2013 and 2014 ECU modules? It would seem to me that the diff would be in the software or firmware and could be scoped out.

Would be nice if *cough cough, scooter, cough cough* if Mama Yama stepped up and reflashed the stock brain to fix the CC issue

So you're saying that the permanent odometer, clock, screen settings, etc, all stayed as is? That's about one small step short of miraculous.
