Well, I liked that picture and I liked Cindy Crawford. That Pepsi commercial and those cut-off jeans had a profound effect on me back in the day.

None of which has anything to do with the 2016 FJR. If we do not veer this one back in the proper direction soon, Someone is going to come along and hurt our feelings.

Based on my extensive experience it would take more than a 6 speed transmission and fancy LED lights to convince a woman like that to ride with me. The SuperFastBallisticMissileBlue of the 2016 might be enough to seal the deal. I have lots of love for the '16 Blue.

Edit - also, the literature on the Canadian website indicates that there is a 12V power socket in one of the saddle bags. That's new.

Your math is correct - somehow I figure you knew that already. I get $19499 = $13,974.27. Dang. That would be a fun fly and ride. In the end my situation stays the same. College tuition and not riding my current bike enough makes this hard to justify. I did have a good year last year and the numbers for 2016 look very doable. Maybe something will happen.

This sort of stuff happens as exchange rates fluctuate between our adjoining countries. Perhaps to cut to the chase of where you or others may head next....don't just go willy-nilly buy a Canadian bike and think it's only about the speedos being in metric. I know a variety of snowmobile owners over the years that played the game and were generally frustrated with the experience except when the deltas were huge.

For example, what are the odds a U.S. dealer will honor warranty work on a bike from another country--let alone if Y.E.S. applies? I bet the answer will be an emphatic, "No."

Or, at the very least....pay attention to those folks that actually live nearer the border about their experiences of international FJRs first.

No willy nillies for Pants. I've bought enough FJRs to last me a while (hopefully, fingers and everything else crossed). 5 speeds is enough for me, thank you.

BTW - I deleted my "edit" in the post above. I mis-read the 12V socket thing - there is no adapter in a saddle bag, only the usual glove box unit.

The fine print says does not include freight and PDI. Can think that is worth at least $2,000 American.

I note they state the 6th gear reduces engine RPM's. If that means less than 3000rpn's at 60mph they have done something good. If not, it is a waste of time.

Looks like individual gear wheels are not available separately any more, only fully assembled axles.

****. That's gonna get real spendy if you run into a trans issue. Let's hope it's just a preliminary exploded view, and they're running behind on updating the drawing(s).

Clutch and transmission - main changes on engine. Also Crankcase has different part nr.

THAT would convince me of the 2016 model year being a Gen IV, if they made engine casting/machining changes to accommodate a 6th gear and slipper clutch.

No. Canadian price for the '15 ES was $18,599 CAD. If the '16 is $19,499 CAD...then that's a $900 or 5% increase...in Canuckibucks.

As Canada's inflation rate has been a bit higher in the past year (1.4% by my Googling) than the U.S. (0.5%) that bodes well for a smaller (or maybe similar) perecentage increase for U.S. FJRs.

The rates do go all over the map. The list price on my 2009 when new was over $20,000 CAD. Dealers were generally selling them for about $17,000.

A year ago the exchange rate was half what it is today. A year and half ago it was about 12%....... but we're in the tank for a while it seems, not going to be a good year for buying 'Merican goods.

BTW, 2015 FJR A was $17599, 2016 is $18099, so about a 2.5% increase there.
