So Steve it sounds like Longstreet Thursday and Friday if we were all there might work for you also???????

Whadda bunch o wimps..

Sleeping bags only at Furnace Creek.

Sleeping bags only at Devils' RaceTrack

Sleeping bags only at some unknown location with lots of Peyote.

Hotels? We don't need no stinking hotels!

As an aside - last year met a German couple who 'illegally' camped at Dante's View.. and may I tell you they had the best campground in the entire park?

That might be the way to go Mike, Thursday and Friday at Longstreet and Saturday at The Dow Villa in Lone Pine.....and home from there Sunday AM.

For me, Steve and anyone else from NorCal, it shaves 143 miles (2 1/2 hrs) off my trip home.

I guess it saves you guys about 30 miles (1 hr according to Garmin) from Lone Pine to 395/I-5 vs. coming from the Longstreet. That might be best left to each traveller.

It's all good, I can get rates for both locations for all nights and see where that leaves us.

All this will have to wait though until I get back from Vancouver on the 14th but I think we have time.......... :drinks: :drinks:

The dates are by no means fixed. I was thinking we could either do the Long Street again or Lone Pine, what does every one think?

We could probably get a deal again at the Casino, I for one vote for the Casino but will go with the majority.

Post up your thoughts.

P.S. i know this is way early but BeemerDon is not doing the BMW Death Valley ride next year so thought i would get started early to make sure we can get rooms.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

MM2, do you anticipate on any more grand kids showing up about that time?

Are you planning on March/April to catch the potential wild flowers and compete with all the sight-seers or the non-peak Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb for the riding and bondng?

Let us know R when it is and we will ink it in on the calendar.
Dude all you had to do was read the title of the thread and you would have been clued in........ :yahoo:

Reading the old Casteneda books, again, DC? I once had a station wagon full of those nasty tasting little cacti. Could have written a cookbook on the various ways to prepare them so as not to hurl. It's been a long time since then, though....'course my perception of time might have been totally messed up.

Peyote: "Breakfast of Champions"! Half a million Yaqui, Tarahumara Indians and Comanchero Apaches throughout the Southwest and Northern Mexico can't be wrong about peyote!!!

March/April:

Potential for wildflowers if there's rain.

In Mar/Apr, SOME of the Sierra passes will be open (80 & 88) unlike Nov-Jan when they can ALL be closed or chains are required. NorCal members won't need to ride south to Bakersfield to Hwy 58 to 395.

Riding & bonding is always a good thing with FJR riders.

That isn't up to me....and it never was. I'm merely an invited attendee at arrivals, I'm not a member of the planning committee. ;)

I think they're satisfied with one. The reality of the work involved, the monetary planning for advanced schooling, the current state of our economy and political climate, that "The Princess" was an only child (with 3 wicked step-sisters) and that they live 1 block from his brother who has 3 boys all weigh into their decision. I'm not involved....I raised her to pick well when looking for a potential mate & father for her children and invested many years teaching her the realities of being responsible for one's actions and decisions. Now I can watch them work through their own lives, but I'll let you know if things change!

Let us know R when it is and we will ink it in on the calendar.
What...now that you know it's being considered you aren't going to check the Ride Planning section?

Well, let's see?

FJR maintenance chart says;

Lube swing arm

Check head bearings & replace if needed

Check front seals

Check brake shoes and rotor run-out

No doubt will need an oil change by then?

Tires? Gotta make sure to drain Fall air and fill 'em with early Spring air "if" they still have tread, or replace? :angry2:

Also; need to re-build rear shock and re-spring to 800lbs.

Change out the ES Stator back to the stock one.

Weather report?

I "think" I'll be buying a Suzuki V-Strom DL 1000, and head to Baja with Papa Chuy at that time!

You guys/gals have a good ride!

Don,

If I remember correctly, an en-route meal made mincemeat of your digestive system so if history repeats itself, I would think the sleeping bag would be the thing stinking!

EXACTLY! Load the FJ up and ride. I go with the ADVRider crew every year since '04. Camped every time.

Yeah....well that works for you young and/or athletic types....BUT....not so good if one partakes of adult beverages at the casino then rides to the campground! :dribble:

Aaaannnndddd....those of us who qualify for senior citizenship or have certain physical maladies (2 years ago: 2 cracked vertebrae, rt. scapula cracked in 2 places, nuymerous broken ribs and a separated shoulder) that don't suffer cold hard ground very well are grateful for a warm hotel room and a shower. :yahoo:

Plus...if Barb comes she will be staying in a room with a lock on the door. ;)

Just kidding, Richard, YOu KNOW she isn't going to make this ride.

I enjoyed last year at the Long Street Casino. What are the dates? I'm signed up for Cabo, but if DVD doesn't interfere, I'll do both.
