At our advanced ages, Niehart and Papa Chuy are always just thankful when it is not a "shart"!!!...gas, maybe.... think I'll pass.
Why dat SP? The CBA Prez loves camping in the desert - besides, have you ever seen my tent setup?QUOTE (dcarver @ Aug 27 2010, 09:40 PM) Whadda bunch o wimps..
Sleeping bags only at Furnace Creek.
Sleeping bags only at Devils' RaceTrack
Sleeping bags only at some unknown location with lots of Peyote.
Hotels? We don't need no stinking hotels!
As an aside - last year met a German couple who 'illegally' camped at Dante's View.. and may I tell you they had the best campground in the entire park?
Whoa!!! Am I reading this right? The Prez of the CBA posted this? I can see you having to put yourself on probationary status soon.
Yeah, all that tenting wore you out, eh DJ? :lol:sleeping bags, wtf.i quit usung them in the army where i had no choice.you can sleep on the ground with all lifes little critters to keep you cozy.no fn way.nature freak.....lol
LOL, no book readn for me, I like pixures!Reading the old Casteneda books, again, DC? I once had a station wagon full of those nasty tasting little cacti. Could have written a cookbook on the various ways to prepare them so as not to hurl. It's been a long time since then, though....'course my perception of time might have been totally messed up.

Peyote: "Breakfast of Champions"! Half a million Yaqui, Tarahumara Indians and Comanchero Apaches throughout the Southwest and Northern Mexico can't be wrong about peyote!!!
Oh gawd, that would have been FUGLY! I'd of gone through 2 Sears n Roebucks..QUOTE (dcarver @ Aug 27 2010, 09:40 PM) Whadda bunch o wimps..

Don,
If I remember correctly, an en-route meal made mincemeat of your digestive system so if history repeats itself, I would think the sleeping bag would be the thing stinking!
Wasn't it Tim who said camping involved a hotel with 300 thread count linen? PS - if we stay at LongStreet, the real men n' women can camp outside right there.. no riding to the campground drunk!QUOTE (GillaFunk @ Sep 18 2010, 07:17 PM) QUOTE (dcarver @ Aug 27 2010, 09:40 PM) Whadda bunch o wimps..

EXACTLY! Load the FJ up and ride. I go with the ADVRider crew every year since '04. Camped every time.
Yeah....well that works for you young and/or athletic types....BUT....not so good if one partakes of adult beverages at the casino then rides to the campground!
Aaaannnndddd....those of us who qualify for senior citizenship or have certain physical maladies (2 years ago: 2 cracked vertebrae, rt. scapula cracked in 2 places, nuymerous broken ribs and a separated shoulder) that don't suffer cold hard ground very well are grateful for a warm hotel room and a shower.
Plus...if Barb comes she will be staying in a room with a lock on the door.
Just kidding, Richard, YOu KNOW she isn't going to make this ride.
Will we ever forget that ride back from Scotty's Castle? I think that was one of the most frightening rides I've ever been on. My little GS was down to 20mph. Andy and I tried to stop for a break but it was harder to hold the bikes up than to ride them. Aaaahhhh!!! the memories. It was still a good weekend though....and wind.
We will need some wind.
