We will see you guys in Vegas and the rest at the Longstreet. Look forward to seeing everyone...!

Be nice if the ride organizer actually organized the thread and updated the first post with the actual info on lodging and attendees ??? 'jest saying...........
Dave, bluestreeks, nightshine and I will be stayin in Lone Pine on Thursday and Saturday (Best Western), Longstreet on Friday only.

That will shave some miles off Sunday's ride home.
It will save us 140 miles on Sunday and make the ride more enjoyable for pillon
https://bestwesterncalifornia.com/hotels/best-western-frontier-motel This should help you NorCal Mooks out, this is the Best Western that the bluestreeks, nightshine and madmike2 are staying at.

I'm an avid fly fisherman and when I go to fish the Sierra Nevada Mountains out of Lone Pine, this is where I stay at: The Frontier Motel!

Old Michael was 86'd from this BW lodging establishment. He got into a fight with a pack of Lesbians and an unidentified older gentleman!

When you guys decide when and where, I'll try to make the plans!

What are you talking about Bob?

R
Fairlaner,

Sorry, didn't notice the dates in the Title, and haven't checked back on this until now. The "when and where" are thoroughly discussed in this thread, thanks!

Yep, I'm a moron!!

I did go "scout" a trip to Death Valley this weekend. Leaving St. George, UT it took me just over 2 hours via I - 15, county road 215(North Las Vegas) and US 95 to arrive at Indian Springs, NV. Upon arrival I discovered that I'd neglected to reinstall the SD card into my wife's camera, which I had borrowed. I had to defer to the Cell phone camera, so the quality is "outstanding". Here's a pic of the entrance to the "famous Creech AFB" where the predator and other drones are directed against targets all the way over in Afghanistan and other middle east locations. The Air Force Thunderbird demonstration team also trains here.

Last month I had spent two weeks, with friends, on the bombing range north of Creech. This bombing range is also the Desert National Wildlife Refuge which is the largest refuge in the lower 48, and bighorn hunting is permitted to a few folks every year. Anyway, it rained enough to flood all of the dry lakes, and to strand us out there for awhile. Perhaps the wildflowers will benefit just to the west in DV??

By the way, the temps on this trip ranged from the mid 30's to the mid 60's. I did get to try out my new heated vest for a couple of hours. While in Indian Springs, I fueled up and purchased coffee and a "lemon muffin". Several pigeons, who had been s*#ting on the fuel pumps, tried to bum some of the muffin from me. Fortunately for them, they didn't "decorate" my FJR, because I was well armed, after all!!

I then spotted a jet on the south side of the street and went over to investigate. It appeared to be a Sabre (or variant) jet from the 1950's, which put it as old as me, or maybe even older! Only marginally quicker than the FJR on take off. This jet was the center piece of the local park. However, I think they might need a newer jet, this one is getting a bit aged:

On up the road I thought I'd go visit Mercury as I'd heard since the cessation of atomic testing that it was a friendlier place (even giving tours), but after reading this sign I decided that I'd better turn around! I didn't wanna get machine gunned off my bike!:

On up 95 I turned south on NV 160 toward Pahrump and in the distance I could see the Funeral and Panamint Mts. of Death Valley National Park! I drove "off road" on to some desert pavement to shoot this quality cell phone pic (almost wrecking while running over two beer bottles alongside the road).

I debated whether to press on to the park, but decided to just come back when I had more days. So I drove home. Total round trip time = about 6.5 hours, 390 miles.

Anyway, thanks for all the info. I'll check with the employer to see if the dates are good!

I'm in. Nightshine and I are sharing expenses at Lone Pine and Longstreet.

Bluestreeks are also riding down, staying at the same place in Lone Pine.

I'll be making Longstreet reservations tomorrow.

ATTENTION DIRT DONKS! If you want to explore Death Valley by dual sport motorcycle, two of the AZ Beemers will be riding their BMW GS's on exploration treks on Friday and Saturday. DingusKahn is also a member of our FJR Forum and has an FJR, besides his BMW R1200GS Adventure and his BMW SS1000RR. Jerry rides one of the new 2011 BMW F800GS's.

I am strongly thinking about going. I ride a GS 800. Are there any other off road bikes going and if so will there be off road time?
Jerry, I would suggest you send a private message to Dirk Keeler - DingusKahn and you two could set up dirt rides for yourselves; Titus Canyon and Tea Kettle Junction are just two good suggestions.

I will be riding my BMW R1150RT Ingrid and leading the road riders. Would you two lead the dirties?

I know jorstin is going and Steve has a BMW R1200GS Adventure, I'll inform him of dirt ride planning.

https://www.azbeemers.org/forum/index.php?topic=2988.msg22083#new For those of you who may want to ride your dual sport motorcycles through Death Valley, here is the DVD thread over at AZ Beemers, BMW MOA Chartered Club #89. Right now just Jerry and Dirk-Dingus are riding their BMW GS's through the National Park, but since half of the bikes in AZ Beemers are BMW GS's, I would imagine others will be joining them!

Sir R. Iam in will be in Vegas Thursday Night and Longstreet FRI-SAT. Don I will be on the FJR this time, Next year I will bring the GS, so I can start training for our Ride ride to Deadhorse next summer.

Steve

So, I am booked in Lone Pine for Thursday, but I am also thinking, say is anyone from NorCal area riding to Las Vegas on Thursday, March 10th and not super slabbing it on I-5/I-15? It would be a long ride on US 395 or US 95, but definitely do-able with only short stops along the way.

Just throwing it out there - Golden Nugget seems really nice and about the same room costs (or cheaper) as staying in Lone Pine for the night.

I am booked for Vegas and for the Long Street. And I'm riding!

Now, how many are trailering this year?

Its colder than heck here in Havasu right now. Tried riding today and almost froze my ears off. It didn't get above 32 degrees until after 11:00am. I hope it warms up a bit before Vegas.

Looking forward to riding to DV.,
