Holy smoke, THAT'S ME, on the 4th bike in back of the RS, and I won't be leaving for DV until Friday Morning the 13th!

Now OM, how DID you get this pic?

Please tell me I'm mistaken. I went on a ride last year also on Knoxville Road. I remember that it was the worst pt-holed, bumpy, rock-strewn road I have ever ridden. I hope I'm thinking of a nearby road!!!!!
That would be the road from the far north end of Lake Berryessa to Eastern Lake County. True it gives most goat trails a bad name, but it can be scenic and peaceful in the Spring. It's probably going to be impassable on a motorcycle in the next few days due to the many stream crossings and the forthcoming rain showers.
Be that as it may, this trip will avoid that particular road and go through Pope Valley instead.

Hot Damn! Now this is starting to sound interesting!

But alas... I am to housework as Cpt. Smith is to Titanic. :cray:

I will just have to figure out a way to enjoy some chocolate and curves in the comfort of my own home.

Ride safe.

I may be in for this one... whether weather. :)
Yes...welllll....that is also my issue. It looks like Sunday AM is bracketed by rain Saturday night and Sunday evening. Chilly I can survive but wet and cold are not very high on my "desirable" list. And, yes, I am a wimp!

(Though it would be worth it just to see Tyler again!)

It looks from the weather report that Saturday Night will be heavy rain and Sunday will be lighter rain.... The roads we were going to be on would be subject to lots of dirt and debris. For the safety of the group, I think it would be wise to postpone this event...

I will post up on Saturday Night but right now it doesn't look good. Rich

I'm really Jone'sn for a ride and the weekend forecast kinda looks like warm Kawlifornia is the place to go. Sunday may work well for me, and if the weather over the sierras is half-descent (and me thinks it will be) I hope to head over.

I'm not firmly committing to any plans, but it is likely that I'll attempt to meet up with any guyz and galz that might be meeting for breakfast in Winters, then go molest some tight goat-trails and then aim for home, ideally getting over the sierras before they get too icy.

Of course, if weather is bad, and/or I get lazy and/or if MadeMike2 was to say "let's just go to our top secret pizza joint and add a few lbs to our temple-like-bodies" .....I'd likely go for that as well.

we'll see what happens.

hmmm, really think it will not be passable? If I can make it over the sierras, I had planned on doing Knoxville.
perhaps you can coach me on any I don't know about, there are some great roads and great topographical transitions in that area.

This is recent path (clicky). I took in that area. ..groovy stuff.

I tagged some spurs of these roads on the GPS, but not sure if I'll have time and/or if conditions will allow much exploring.

Not sure if there is any mis communication. The roads that Dr. Rich has mapped out are passable all year/ all weather. The road I was referring to is on the extreme north east end of Lake Berryessa. It is a goat trail that winds through some very beautiful country with about 8-10 stream crossings. These stream crossings consist of a concrete section laying in the bottom of a seasonal creak. This was done in lieu of building bridges across the stream in this extremely lightly traveled area.

Most of the year they are passable though potentially wet. During the summer they are almost always dry. The only time they would be completely impassable would be during or immediately after a storm. This road goes through the Knoxville OHV recreational area. This is BLM land with various fire roads and single tracks that a dual sport rider would enjoy for hours. It ends up coming out in Mid Lake County north of where Butts Canyon Road comes out.

Best time to go is early spring. Abundant wildflowers, mild temps, and few other vehicles. Let me know if anyone needs any more info.

Mark, I don't think that's the issue. The forecast keeps worsening and that is the main reason for Rich's post. The odds are currently that it will rain most of the day.

I'm thinking I just might ride in the rain. Maybe just up to Cache Creek Casino for lunch. The motorcycle parking is covered at the casino and right near the elevator. If anyone is crazy enough to be interested, let me know.

I'll be checking for late Saturday/early Sunday posts and weather updates. I've been meaning to test my new Frog Toggs and nylon-with-velcro overboots, so I'm not giving up on this yet. Even if it's lunch with Hycle :) And as for what Mark said, Heck yeah I need more info. Sounds like a great KLR ride. PM sent. Some of you "FODS-type" guys, are you listening?

Ya, ditto here. The weather geeks have been wrong pretty much all week with threats of bad weather and it hasn't been too bad. For me the best bet still seems Sunday and to head west ....I'll see what Saturday brings and go from there. Just logging a few miles and perhaps 'squeeze' a lunch in would be good for me.

Rumsey, CA (Cache Creek Indian Casino) is the same.

I think I'll fire up the garage heater and re-install all my farkles on the FJR (removed for the 52K valve adjustment). Maybe even repair a couple of minor things on the KLR that I haven't finished yet.

1.) Thanks for the Accuweather link ...I'll check them out. I very much like the layout of their site, but wish they'd put up some better weather for Sunday :). Ya, truckee is the extreme! (as you know), that is cold central for ol' man winter.

And it seems old ma nature is turning on her groove thing this weekend.......

2.) Looks like enthusiasm on that side of the hill is fizzling, and ditto on this side of the hill.

Woke up to a dusting of snow this morning, but I think roads wil be clear by mid morning ...and me guesses a similar scenario tomorrow. I'm gunna try to log a few miles tomorrow, but not sure if I'll aim for the west, may just stay on this side.

Well, we'll see what tomorrow brings, but it doesn't look too promising.

Ok, the weather man wins. 1 to 3 inches of rain with 50mph wind gusts for tomorrow.

Looks like I will be playing Fear 2 on the computer instead of riding in the rain. :(

I think that we need the rain and it looks like it will be coming in buckets... Ride for tomorrow is canceled!

We will all meet at Hycles house for Video Games!
