My daughter might ride along with me, so depending what she ends up doing will determine what room I get. Right now, I think I have a single King, but that might change. If she decides to go, I'll have to buy her riding gear and a helmet.

Just called the hotel and tried to make a reservation and was told, oddly enough, that there was no need to reserve just yet. She stated that although people had called and "reserved" they still had not assigned rooms. She said to call back 2-3 weeks before arrival to make final reservations. Weird.

Anyway, count me in.

P.S. OM says he ain't commin' if it's a rainin' What a wimp. Everyone knows it never rains in California.

See ya

I called this afternoon... gave them the confirmation number and got a room reservation.... I did mention that Old Michael was a wimp and that in all likelihood he would cancel. I think she gave me his room.... My room rate for a single was $29 per. Maybe we can all ride down together. Think I will wear my Los Robustos shirt... Rich

Two weeks ago....

I booked the "Fairlaner Suite" it has a king bed that you can flip over and make it a queen.

Only 59.95

 :yahoo:

Ah, don't be too tough on poor Old Michael. I hear tell his acute rain phobia comes from being restrained as but a tot in his stroller and forced to "go walkies" in the rain, often.

Sure, he's smiling in this pic, but it must have been taken when he was quite young. It is said, as he got older, he was quite inconsolable during these wet trips and even his favorite stuffed animal could not keep him happy.

OMG! there may be a clue in this..............rain.......furry friend. Hmmmmm

Could this be what started his abusive tendancies towards furry animals? A perceived trust, broken?

Bokerfork and Dr. Rich: Great that you are coming, I have added you to our list. I cannot understand this confusion at the hotel booking desk. I will call again in December and speak to Casino Manager Charley and try to confirm that all is well. I suggest to everyone to call on January 2nd and reconfirm your hotel reservations at the Longstreet Inn, Amargosa Valley.

Miss Barb, If the Campbell River Winter gets too cold, wet and dreary for you in January: I want to extend an invitation to you for joining us at Death Valley Daze. If you can get an airline ticket coming and going to/from Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport, I have a bike for you to ride on this FJR Forum Event. Being retired, I can pick you up and drop you off at anytime!

As you know, David "Orestes" Clarke is flying over from Chatham, England to tour DV Daze with us and he is riding my 2003 FJR 1300 "Miss Lucy Liu". My son Seth and I currently live in a tiny doll house, only 1,120 square feet - one bathroom and only two bedrooms. My lady friend Rena and I sleep in the Master Bedroom and Dave is sleeping in Seth's Room; but the comfortable couch in the living room is yours if you want it. You will be pestered by our Labrador Retriever "Bear" and our tabby cat "Gary", but the couch is damn comfortable; I fall asleep on it all of the time watching evening sports on the telly. You then could take your choice of my other machines to ride: 1) "Miss Pamela Anderson" our 2002 Harley-Davidson FXD Dyna Super Glide, nice big jugs on Pam. Pammy is also equipped with touring windshield, LeatherLyke saddlebags and rear luggage rack. She's a sweet machine and very quick! Also, her seat height is only 27" above the pavement, real low!

2) You may also ride "Senorita Salma Hayek" our 2009 BMW F650GS Twin, same exact machine that SkooterG's girlfriend GSJane rides. Seth and I met you in Nakusp at CFR 2009 and I know you are short in stature, but if you can get a leg over mi Salma she's also yours to ride if you wish. You may have seen the Ride Report where I took Salma offroad to Central Mexico to trek to Real de Catorce and Santiago. Salma's windshield is a minimal sized Givi, due to her nature of being my primary offroad bike these days; you'll definitely need to bring your full coverage helmet for riding her to Death Valley, really not much wind or rain protection. But, Salma has the BMW tank bag, the Vario saddlebags and the Vario top box; comfortable.

Please consider coming to DVDaze, we'll assign you as FJR Forum "Resident Den Mother" to keep Old Michael under control!

Hey Beemer DonS,

Dashbaw David, That's great news. 4 others have booked since yesterday, I'll amend our list to reflect attendees.
Good morning Beemer DonS,

I was up half the night practicing how to fall in sand. Being successful, I booked a room at the Longstreet Inn-Casino in Amargosa Valley. On the morning in question, if I head straight north from Yuma, I can cut you off at the pass. Let me know where your first stop is and I will be there.

David

PS I don't know what happened here, all this blue stuff?

BB> I fixed it, we are having funny stuff with quotes lately.
"Sounds great, David! Maybe another Canuck joining us, friend Barb from Campbell River, Vancouver Island is considering!"

Well, while Miss Barb is scheming, another Canuckistan jumped in to join us at Death Valley Daze. My friend David Ashbaugh of Black Creek, British Columbia, Canada will be joining us at the Longstreet Inn and Casino in Amargosa Valley, Nevada.

If you saw the Ride Report and Pictures of SkooterG and Papa Chuy's latest trip to Baja California, Mexico - Ensenada y San Felipe: Dashbaw was the gentleman riding the new silver BMW K1300GT. He spends every winter away from CA in Arizona.

Barb, wouldn't it be wild if you knew David from BC? Have both his phone number in Yuma and his Black Creek phone #.

Besides his new BMW K1300GT, he has a 2005 BMW R1200GS; those came out for delivery almost five years ago today; you may have seen a GS roaming around The Island and it was David. That is why he was referencing sand in his post to me: David plans on doing some off road work in Death Valley - such as Titus Canyon, Zabriskie Point and Ashford Mill area!

FOOTNOTE: Barb, David retired to Vancouver Island. He was a Law Enforcement Officer in Vancouver on Mainland Canada.

He was part of Government Task Force that was bringing Canada's Hell's Angels to trial / justice for racketeering and murder.

Don, I am sure your friend and I have passed each other, more than once. It's inevitable here on the island. My house is about a 4 minute ride from the Oyster River bridge (the gateway to Black Creek and Merville).

I pretty sure we've not met, but as he has a L/E background, he likely knows Dave Hay- local RCMP (motorcycle cop - now also retired) and avid Wing Rider. He is very active in Wing Rider groups near and far, and rider instruction.

I've met Mr. Hay a couple times and quite like and respect the guy, thru our local forum; Islandriders.ca (affectionately called "IslandSliders", as most of the active posters are asshat kids on sportbikes)

.....am going to talk to my sister and see how this could all fit in to a visit to the valley of fruits and nuts.
