OM, that was inane and crappy. That, along with your unicorn fantasies really has me feeling uncomfortable. If I could just locate that goddammed Report button...Oh wait...here it is https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/****.gif
+10, Double Gunny; that was totally inane and extremely crappy, however HRZ that Unicorn Fantasy is rather common among those of us from The Emerald Isle!

You know, if we all road side by sides, we would not need gear and worry about falling down.

Just remember what Arnold said a while back....

"That does not kill you makes you stronger"

I also find that rye is a great painkiller.

I just got off the phone with Dan. I think I helped unwad his panties. Things should be ok unless he falls off the wagon again.

JesuCristo!!

I have 3 model motorcyles sitting here beside my computer desk.... The dirt bike is always falling over. If that holds true to real life I guess I'm going to picking up my dirt bike lots that weekend.

Man...We could ride that trail on our FJRs. The road to my mother's house is more technical than that. Haha...

Looks like Joe's SxS will work out just fine!! We'll probably have to tether Big-D because he'll be eskeerd, but we'll walk him through the technical lane changes.

When riding in unfamiliar territory one should scout out the terrain before charging off into the unknown. We will just send Zilla out in front and as long as he doesn't just disappear from view it should be safe. If he does disappear he is big enough to fill in the hole and it will still be safe enough for us to continue.

Ya see that guy take off across the sand and suddenly come up on what they described as a 30-35ft cliff. Wow, disappeared real quick. Good idea about AJ leading the group.

The gearing was a little too low, topped out at 45, so I put the stock primary sprocket (13) back on taking the (12) off but left the larger 52 on the back, took it out for a spin and dumped it ( AJ will be proud

) going through some sand. One second everything was fine, next moment I was on the ground. Damn, maybe some Robocop gear might be a good idea. Was running 15psi in both tires, think I will lower it to 12 up front and 10 in back. I think I will back off my the rear suspension a bit also, the dealer I bought it from I believe had his service department tighten it down as far as it will go on the spring making it too stiff, you'd think it was on Viagra. Need to make some minor adjustments to the shift lever and maybe the rear brake.

Tomorrow is another day, more practice. Hard to get used to these plastic MX boots, they are comfortable, just big & bulky. I ride a half block from home and I'm in the desert, the cloest part is all volcanic rock, don't want to fall on it, it can be pretty sharp. Go out a little further it turns to dirt and sand and lots of cactus (watch those tubed tires) and rattlesnakes now that it is starting to warm up a bit.

That last guy was dumb. Why would he hit that hill like that with no idea what's on the other side. I woulda needed a change of shorts!

That bike is probably sprung for someone weighing around 165-180 pounds. You might want to consider stiffer springs. They made a HUGE difference in my bikes handling. That was hitting whoops and jumps and some pretty hard g-outs though. For just trail riding, they'll probably be fine for now...but something to consider for the future. If you call "Slavens Racing" in Colorado Springs he'll set you up with the proper springs.

Huron52, did you not know that a motorcycle's natural position is lying on the most expensive part on its side? That is the state it is ALWAYS trying to return to.

Oh, and I agree with HRZ, the guy riding off that cliff is a dipshit...all I can think is, "Natural selection at work".

Fixed.

Well, stay safe you guys... Based on the videos, its safe to say I'm insanely jealous that I won't be making this trip...

To make up for it, I'm taking a volcano tour in Iceland that weekend. :)

Yup, I'm speaking at a conference there and it seems the speakers are booked on a 4x4 tour of the volcanos outside town, so while ya'll are playing in the desert, I'll be playing on the moon...LOL

That said, I definitely need to load the bike up and hit Utah in the coming couple of years!

You'll really enjoy Iceland. I spent two weeks in Iceland on a Yamaha XT660 back in 2010 and loved the ride.

I did a ride report on that trip over on ADV Rider if you want to read up on what to expect....

Iceland Ride

Have fun in Iceland and we'll be close to having a ride report on this clusterfuk when you get back.
