Need some route clarification for programming into Garmin in the event one comes along.... And from Quincy I would need to start heading back to the Bay Area vs. farther into the wilderness, so could use some recommendations there....

:assassin:

Our route back to Grass Valley via 89-Gold Lakes Rd.(a beautiful short cut) back to 49 to Grass Valley to Auburn and I 80 which would be your best bet to get home while having the most fun.

Quincy to Auburn is about than 3 hours I suspect

You could go from Quincy on 89 to Truckee but with the construction on I-80 it would suck and may not be any shorter time wise.

I-80 is your friend coming and going. If you're going to start early for the meet up point, just take 80 east to either 99 north or 65 north to Marysville, where you catch 20 east to the mentioned Chevron Station. If you're staying in Paradise (without the virgins), I'd just program it for the fastest route, with 80 being the workhorse to get you at least to Sacto (a couple ways north to the Oroville-Chico area from there).

On the way home, just stay with the group. Quincy's as far into the wilderness (from su casa) as you will be getting. We'll be coming back 89 to Gold Lakes Road to 49 to the Nevada City/Grass Valley area, then I (and probably zip and a couple others) will be taking 174 to Colfax where you can take I-80 west through Auburn and all the way to the Bay.

Hope you can make it.

I will be following the group out from Quincy, but will stay on 89 to Truckee and I-80 east into Nevada. If you are in a hurry back home, you could stick with me and catch I-80 from Truckee back home..

I doubt he'd save much more than a half hour that way, especially with the road construction on 80 up around the summit, and it's surely not as much fun or as pretty. BTW, how come you're not just taking 70 east through Portola toward Reno if Fernley is your destination?

Mr Bugnatr, will there be room at the lunch table for an old guy from Reno? The wife flew down to Vegas and I have to wear down my tires so a new set can be put on. I'm the guy who almost bought your old ST1100 many moons ago.

Anyone setting GPS coordinate for the meetup can use

City: Browns Valley,

Address: 5300 Hwy 20. That should bring you in.

Looking forward to seeing the Norcal crew again. I'll be running Channel 15.

Sure, I remember you. See you Saturday

Gentlemen

May I tag along on this ride?
Mr B. Sounds great, I'd like to see that paint job in person.

Because I am on a time table to get to Fernley. Come to think about it. I think most of the construction is on I-80 East. Maybe 70 through Portola would be a better option (faster), or Lake Tahoe and Mt. Rose Highway (more fun).

I 80 sucks from Truckee west so your ok eastbound. Portola is faster but I agree Tahoe is more fun!

What's the route from Marysville to Quincy? With a big group, I don't want to have to worry about missing a traffic signal and losing everyone (if I make it that is; still up in the air  )

What's the route from Marysville to Quincy?
Well, high-maintenance Hans, the meeting point for the beginning of the ride is not actually in Marysville.

It's about 10-12 miles northeast of Marysville, on the intersection of Hwy. 20 and Marysville Road. Then I believe the route to

Quincy will be (unless some doorknob takes the group instead out some bumpy, no centerline, goat trail) -

Marysville Road NE, which turns into Willow Glen Road (same stinkin' road) up to La Porte Road just outta Brownsville.

You stay on La Porte Road then all the way to .....La Porte!

Then, just through the tiny town of La Porte (about a mile up the road) you hang a right onto Quincy-La Porte Road.

There'll be a sign. Q-LP road then takes you all the way up and through to Hwy. 89, just outside of Quincy. Left on 89, through

East

Quincy, into downtown Quincy where you'll see about a dozen goobers on FJRs, circling and arguing and trying to find

parking across from the courthouse.

Was that helpful?

Old Michael, that was more helpful than you can even possibly imagine. Last week our Fine FJR Forum renamed Bungie with his new working title:

Captain U Turn!

And now, in a complete stroke of brilliance, you have selected the absolutely perfect moniker for James Burleigh; so simple, so elegant, so apropos:

High Maintenance Hans!

So after all those directions, requests for directions and more directions, High Maintenance Hans has decided to sleep in after all?
