Hi, guys!

I'm scheduled to pick up my new (to me) '04 tomorrow.

I'd like to join the ride. I'll be 2-up, so put me down for one of the slow(er) groups.

Thanks,

Andy

Hi Andy, Congrats on yer new bike...
What were your previous bikes?
Thanks!

Let's see...

Umm...

'83 or so Nighthawk 650... (sold a long time ago)

'92 FJ1200 ABS... (sold a long time ago)

'97 Virago 1100 Special... (thank God I sold that one a long time ago; hated that bike)

'99 FXDWG that I rode to work today and I'm keeping for those 'cruising' moments.

Weather permitting, I'm hoping the SO and I will be able to preview at least some of the route this weekend.

Sounds good...just be careful...you will be on a new bike with riders you've not met before on roads you've not been on before. Lot's of "new" in that sentence...

However, except for the new bike part...most everybody else will be in the same boat...so we all need to watch out and conciously make an effort not to push harder than if we were alone on a ride by ourselves out in the middle of nowhere.

I have 2 goals:

1. Have fun.

2. Get the FJR, the SO and myself all back home in the same condition as we were when we left.

Over the years I've done quite a few group rides with riders I am familiar with and those that I'm not familiar with, so I'm fairly confident that I'll be able to adjust on-the-fly. I'm not out to set a new land speed record or show off my mad riding skillz. More like meet some people, enjoy the ride, and take in some scenery. And food. Gotta have good food.

Wheatie

Seein how far you had to come, and lookin at the weather forecast for this weekend I'd of made the same call. Weather was beautiful all weekend. Friday we did about half of the "RAMBLE" sunny and 85. Today although overcast we only experienced sprinkles late in the day.Put about 350 on today, with a couple of forum members, were goin out for dinner, so I'll type more tommorrow and Supply some pics if I can figure out how

And OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Thats sun glare if your wonderin Dave

Wheatie!!!Sould I stick this under "Ride Reports" or just post the stuff here. Only wonderin because I'm not sure if anyone else cares, other than the guy's who were goin to join us on the "RAMBLE"

Dave

I sure hope the Athens weather gets better before Saturday. The forecast could sure be better.
Yeah...I hear you there. <_< This has to be one of the wettest (read suckiest) springs on record.

In any case...I'm riding down and will be there Friday night and riding Saturday while dodging raindrops-by myself if need be. This is an annual spring rite for me and it has usually provided good memories. :)

I will be there rain or shine also. I'm really looking forward to it, it just sucks that this weekend ended up warm and mostly dry in the Athens area, and next week is looking like it could be wet. Last week when the rain date was decided upon, the forecast for this coming weekend was looking very good. Well, at least we can be pretty sure that we will not get snow. (I had that on the Ky ride and it was not fun)

It's alrerady pretty late, so I'll try to keep it short. I can't say enough about the great Guy's we have on this forum. Before I came down for the weekend I stopped at the dealer to ask him what he thought it would cost to have him set up my bikes suspension before I left for this ride. He told me the service rates are 65 bucks an hr. and that it would take less than that, but that was his minumum charge. Sounded fair enough to me. But that he couldn't do it for a week or two because his schedule was full. Well Ray a guy I met from the forum who made the weekend with us, wound up settin up my suspension for me in a coffee shop parkin lot where we stopped for coffee. Unbelievable, in less than 5 min.hecompletely transformed the ridin characterstics of my bike for the price of a cup of coffee. Can anyone beat that. I also had the good fortune of meetin Denny another forum member who because he lives in the area, and I guess helped "Wheatie" pick many of the roads for this "RAMBLE" since so few guy's showed up on Saturday, volunteered [ probably coersed more than volunteered ] personally took us around some of his favorite roads in southern Ohio. This weekend was for me any way, the perfect start to a really long summer. I just hope the weather works out for you guy's this next weekend comin up, so you can sample some of the best ridin I've ever done. And one more thing before I sign off. "Wheatie" isn't kidden when he keeps harpin about everyone ridin at there own speed or skill level, only because after runnin twice over the double yellow lines did it finally sink in that I was ridin way to fast for my ability.SOOOOOOOOO!!!! I went to the back, and rode at my own skill level. Everyone was very understanding and just waited for me at the next intersection. And you know what they said, that I was only about 3 minutes behind them anyway, and that it just gave them a little time to stretch. So "NOW" I'll say it, everybody slow down and have a fun and safe ride Saturday.

Dave

Could all of you others that ARE gonna be at the Ramble chime in so I can get a rough idea who I can expect to be there?

(Oh, and thanks drc32-0 / aka Denny for leading the ride...and good on you Dave for adjusting your ride...safer and more fun for everybody)

I'm going to try and make it out as long as the weather isn't total CRAP. I'm probalby coming out Sat and not staying over night, though that might change.

So count me as a definate maybe. :)

I am planning on being there, arriving Friday night, riding Saturday and leaving either Saturday evening or Sunday early. (keeping my options open)

If 50% rain is being called for by Thursday evening...I will probably bag it.
