Great photos and report. I've long wanted to make a trip down through Baja ... guess I need to move it up the list :)

Time to start brushing up on the Spanish....

Griff

Somehow I really fear that the beast has been unleashed with all the new foto op's..

...way bad for Skooter, if you get my drift?

Skooter, you are :****: 'ed

SkootieBoy, I see you lurking?

Cat got yer tongue?

Actually Don, SkooterG should be proud of pics taken of him in Leticia's Whorehouse in GN, BCS. John Holmes would be set back a peg, after Skooty's performance with Las Senoritas!

Great job Don, we knew you could figure this picture posting thingamabob out... Seeing the pics confirm what I saw on vacation last year in Cabo, looks like a fun place to explore on two wheels.

PS -- next giant step, adding more than one pic per post... ;)

One of my greatest joys when Motorcycling Mexico is taking a day off from the bikes and going sportfishing! Sportbiking and Sportfishing, I love both of these great activities.

Here is Fast Eddie hooking into a Dorado, we chartered a fishing boat for the afternoon and stocked the galley with queso, cerveza, limons, cilantro, salsa, frijoles y tortillas.

Just incredible being out on beautiful blue Pacific for 8 hours. However, guess who got just a little bit seasick; and he'd served on an aircraft carrier. No carriers in US Army!

Thanks, George; for your confidence in me! So, based on your encouragement: Here's a 2nd picture. This is from lens craftsmanship of SkooterG; what a gorgeous view of Los Arcos!

What the Hell escapfjrtist: Let's go for a 3rd photo in one post Amigos! Papa Chuy loves watching antics of Los Pelicanos, I can sit on a dock and watch these characters all damn day!

I must admit, some of these pix are looking mighty fine, must be Skooties pix. :D

Looks like a fun time. I love fish... I love eating them, Mmmmmmm :)

With your Spanish verbiage, you'll be giving that ole timer OM a run for his money on RRs.

P.S. - Don't think you can go back now and post 3 years worth of rides in a month.

Signed your Number One Fan,

Bluesy.

P.S.S. - I see you writing something.... Hello...

Ah, the foods of Mexico: As much as I love Mexican Women (Salma Hayek has been asking me for years now to move into her Hacienda in Veracruz with her), I do believe that I love Mexican Food just as much! We had the most delicious desayunos and dinners you can imagine! Lobster, shrimp, octopus, calamari, menudo and birria. Delicioso!

I'm doing better now Bluesy, up to 7 pictures in a single post now! I'm hoping you can make this Run next March. And I'm really hoping Old Michael and ShinyPartsUp can make it, too.

...now you're getting the hang of it Don! That photo of lands-end is too cool. We rented jet skis and ran all over that area for an afternoon. Didn't have much luck with the fishing though, just one Dorado. Had it prepared by a restaurant on the beach and it was muy bueno!

Mexico's History has always been affected by outside intervention by other countries: Spain, Great Britian, France, United States and even Russia had colonial designs on Mexico; to exploit her as much as they possibly could. France ruled Mexico for over two decades, until they were militarily overthrown. But the French influence lives on until this very day.

Even after the execution of Maximillian, the French Dictator, Mexico still continued trade relations with France. Gustav Eiffel, of Eiffel Tower fame, built these prefabricated churches and sold them worldwide. I've traveled throughout French Polynesia: Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea and many other of the beautiful French isles; and these prefabricated Eiffel Iron Works churches are scattered all throughout former French colonies in the Pacific Ocean Sphere.

It is estimated there could be up to three hundred of these Eiffel Catholic Churches in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama. I know a lot of folks here on our FJR Forum enjoying chasing and recording dams in North America. Someday, I want to ride to all of the Gustav Eiffel churches in Latin America. Bucket list!

1st church here is in the amazing French village of Santa Rosalia. Company Mining Town of a French Mineral consortium. You can still buy a loaf of French bread and hear French spoken!

Baja031.jpg

This Eiffel Catholic Church is in charming and tiny village of Santiago, high up in Sierra de la Laguna. These poor peons scrimped and saved to buy their town an Eiffel Church in 1900!

Baja088.jpg

In subsequent years this Church in Santiago was faced on the outside with red brick and decorative stones. But inside, you can still see skeletal construction of French iron work beams!

See what you can do when you put those reading glasses on. Good stuff Don!
I hear you loud and clear, Brother Dave. Took me a damn week to find my specs. I may have to hook a "Granny chain" on them and wear them around my neck; like Fairlaner does!

It was worth it to wade thru the first three pages of crap to get to the good stuff. Nice Don! Man, the last few years have been harder on SkooterG than I realized. He never looked that young when I met him and sure looks beaten down now. Must be those IB rides and the crashes. Couldn't be the women and beer!

And now, a commercial break for a word from your sponsors: SkooterG and Papa Chuy! The purpose of this Ride Report is twofold, 1 is to show you folks what a great time "Los Quatros Amigos" had traveling together in Mexico and 2 is to encourage you to join us again in April of 2011 for a repeat of this fun Baja C. adventure with new folks! Viva Mexico M/C!

In January we will move this thread over to Southwest on our FJR Forum and more detailed information will be provided. Skooty and I believe that we can handle leading a group of sixteen riders, we would each ride herd on seven riders for security. I am hoping that some of my AZ Beemers Mexico Riding Buddies will join us to help with the Ride Leadership.

A decision will have to be made if this trip is to be 9 days or 12 days. If 9 days it would be down and back, just like Skoot, Frenchy, Eddie and Chuy did back in 2004. If 12 days we would use the night ferry to cross over the Sea of Cortez from La Paz to Mazatlan. I can show you some incredible sights and work in a day of sportfishing out of beautiful San Blas.

Ai, ai; Loreto, Loreto, Loreto: What a magnificent Mexican coastal village. At our last meal together on our last day of the trip, in a restaraunt in Tecate on the border, we four discussed our only regret of the trip: That we did not spend a second night in Loreto. We will correct this on the April of 2011 trip. One of the neatest items about Loreto, besides it being a beautiful and clean town, was that Isla El Carmen, Isla Monserrat and Isla Santa Catalina are just offshore. Charter boats will take you out to these islands for a day of sportfishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, para sailing, beachcombing for seashells and cook your lunch on the beach!

In the first photo below you will see three of us sitting with our Landlady Barbara for our one night spent in Loreto together. What is the name of her hotel? The Hamiltonian! You are probably saying to yourself: Why in the world, for Petey's sake, is this great place right on the beach in lovely Loreto called The Hamiltonian, instead of La Esmeralda or something else en Espanol. Because Barbara is from Hamilton, Ontario in the Great Republic of Canuckistan! I swear, you cannot swing un Gato muerte (a dead cat) without hitting a Canadian when you are down in Mexico; they are like sand fleas or crabs, they are everywhere. Barbara's establishment has eight units that can sleep two apiece, perfect for us if we wind up with a Forum Mexico Traveling Crew of sixteen. I have all of her info still and I will contact her in January. As Old Michael always says, the nicest Ladies in the World are named Barbara (or barb) and are from Canada. Right, Old Michael???

There were sightings of La Ballena (whales) on this trip, here's a few shots of these big boys. Ha, ha; just kidding everybody, you have to come down in Winter to see the real whales!
