I did to my FJR today something I've never done before: put it on a battery tender. Hope I don't kill my nearly 8 y/o OEM battery by doing it but it won't be used for a few months.

Rode the bike 300 miles today. South winds whipped around 20 mph, but the Gen III dismisses that as child's play. High temperature was right at 80. The winters down here ain't too shabby. If any of your snowbirds wanna do some riding, and you can get out of there, I'm all ears - free place to stay and the food will be incredible - I guarantee it or your money back...

Wasn't planning a ride report, but I brought the camera, got a few decent pictures, and a pretty good story developed so I will whip something up proper tomorrow.

Stay thirsty, my friends.

I got out as well. Ran over to Cycle Gear in Indy. Just a short 110 miles going the way I went. Tried to find a few curved roads, but not much luck. It was getting dark pretty quick, so I hit the afterburners and hopped on the interstate. 80ish most of the way back. New tires from last week, larger/winter screen, and these temperatures made for a great ride. Kinda ridiculous this weather we are having, but not complaining one bit. I did pick up some of the heated gear and am going to see how that works.

Got out for what was probably the last significant ride until March. 250 miles of local roads and temperatures ranging between 46 and 52 °F. Filed up with premium gas (no ethanol) and will wash it and change the oil tomorrow. Three months to go...

Temp forecast near 70's, rode with friends to Cumberland MD to the Crabby Pig for lunch, 181 miles round trip, highest temp 68, great weather for December in PA. Need to wash and service for winter, can't expect more days like today!

Put 432 more miles on it, and had a blast
Come-on Joe. Don't make the Californians feel bad. It's raining and snowing out there for heaven's sake! Hell even Don had rain in Chandler. He blames Canadians.

Couldn't stand it, got the bike out for a leisurely ride. Not too smart considering the need for upcoming surgery but too bad. Ended up here, #43 on the list of state parks, forests, preserves, etc. in NC I've visited.

Rode it to the dealer. Went to parts counter for spare screws. Not only did they not have either type in stock (another reason to keep spares on hand), but they would not order any as they were taking inventory. After that, I realized the futility of going there for stuff and I rode to the internet and ordered the parts there. Hated to pay shipping but it's about the same as prices at the dealer overall. When I got back from the internet I ritualistically slathered high quality lubricants over many of the pieces/parts that move, in anticipation of much wet riding.

Spent all day Saturday bonding with my 2005 FJR. Rebuilt the front forks (seals, bushings, upgraded springs and fresh fluid). While I had the forks off, I repacked the steering bearings with grease and re-torqued the nut.

Another pretty day in Seattle. I went north to see my daughter and grandson. Had lunch and then went to the Edmonds ferry terminal. From the ferry I watched a rainbow spilling into Puget Sound and watched the arc grow as the ferry moved into the path between the sun and the water droplets over the water. Five minutes into the ride it became a full arc and then gradually disappeared into the shore at Edmonds. I rode the twistys on Bainbridge Island from Kingston into Indianola, back out of Indianola and into Suguamish. Then I crossed the Agate Pass bridge and rode to the ferry terminal in Bainbridge. I took the ferry into downtown Seattle and made it home before dinner.

Retirement beats the hell out of working for a living.
