Well, I got sick yesterday and decided to stay home. Not much better today, so I'm afraid this year's total will be just short at 14,862 miles. Seeing as though I crashed about 1,000 miles from home (shortest route) and missed about 4 weeks of riding after the crash, I'd say I was on target for at least 16K and perhaps as much as 17K. One year I rode almost 18,000 miles. As a weekender/tourer only rider, that's not too shabby. You easily would have gotten to 15K had you not had your get off. While 15,000 is nothing to balk at, you of all people get so much out of your miles. I would venture that the miles you get are really high quality based upon your literature that comes from them. The ride reports are great, but only tell half the story of how awesome those miles are. Milestone are what they are but "smilestones" are what I am after now. I have ridden some big mile days, seen too much interstate, and missed way too many smiles in an attempt to make miles. I need to get into your groove as it appears so much more rewarding based upon your resulting prose!!!!260 miles today for Pants and MikeP1300. We packed a sandwich and picnicked in the National Forest. Took a walk in the woods to check out an eagle's nest. Rode the 115-ish miles home straight. Mid 50s and sunny today. Nice weather for a change. It's taking 3 bikes to do it, and I've still got 3 days left, but with a little bit of luck, I might make 15,000 miles this year in the saddle.Stay thirsty, my friends....
Hope 2016 is at least 25,000 miles for me.
