I should have been like PhilJet and gone to Cleveland on the bike. I washed the cars and had the forks draining to change springs and oil.

Left the FJR sit while I took the Tenere out for a spin...hope it's not pissed now!

Checked the tire pressure in both tires. Geared up and took off on her. First real ride with the new Penske. Went out in search of some of the worst roads that I knew of. Looking for pot holes and expansion joints.

Somewhere in between trying to get an accurate feel for the suspension, I recalled something that Jeff Ashe said when trying to dial in suspension. I sought out some Florida Twisties. I railed them for a while. The poor roads and "curves" I was on just didn't seem challenging or harsh. I was being extra cautious because of all the junk still on the roads. I thought my speed was way down, but after picking it up a bit, I determined the reason I can't get my pegs or boots down was because of the new shock. The bike is very neutral feeling on clover leafs. Additionally, I didn't seem to be getting that bucking feeling over pavement heaves.

After about 60 miles I headed over to a friends that just had his hip replaced last week. He is doing well. Chatted for a hour or so and headed home after finding a few more curves. Put the old girl away and didn't hook up the battery tender cause I think I am going out tomorrow...... For some more data gathering. In the name of science. Yeah, that's the storyI am telling

You should have headed over here. You could have actually tested the shock on some real roads!

Didn't have that much time. Plus, those flat boring straight roads over there are not up to my standards!! It was probably best that I was not with anyone else, so I could make sure I wasn't riding over my head with new to me equipment for the first time.

I didn't have work, but I rode the bike on a nice twisty rural loop out to Greensburg and over to West Newton to the Yoghioghenny River, then wandered back north to home. I need to clean it up. Lots of salt brine from melting snow.

55 degrees today - spring at the end of January. Rode to Iron Pony and back - 5 hrs. Didn't buy anything, but I'm still lusting after this:

Some day...

PhilJet, why would you want that? Just because it looks fantastic, has a snarling V4 that has consistently seduced every motorcycle magazine that has tested it, can pull wheelies in almost any gear, handles like a dream, sounds wonderful, and has Italian exclusivity oozing off of it, is no reason to want one. That is just silly.

I want one too.

Also, I wish to surrender my driving privileges.

Took a ride around, a few hrs, maybe 120 miles. Wasn't much but it was the first time on the bike since before Thanksgiving. Hernias suck when riding, had mine fixed 12/28. Mucho gooder now tho bigger unexpected bumps didn't feel so good.

Spent the day romping through the Mark Twain NF. It was rough but how else can I find out if I like the Laam seat? ;)

Wired up the heated gear pigtail. I always wondered what all the fuss was about regarding FUSE blocks and such. I have had my battery exposed before and saw it was cluttered with accessory wiring. But I was lucky the previous owner was really good with keeping all the electrical stuff tidy. He had already installed flashing brake lights, grip heaters, cruise control, and HID head lights. The top of the battery terminals are quite packed. Each post had 4 wires coming off in addition to the actual battery wire. Adding the 5th was not the easiest with the ballasts already in there but I managed. NOW I KNOW WHY YOU ALL RAVE ABOUT FUSE BLOCKS. LOL.

I am now quite ready for a get out here weekend. No longer will I be afraid of freezing on the way to or from the better weather.

Went for about a 50 mile ride. Had other things to get done or I would have been gone longer. However........ Upon returning home, sitting in the shop all lonely was the 1986 Venture Royale I bought in December all ready to go. What the hell, took it for about a 30 mile ride. 60 degrees today. Both bikes back on the battery tenders.............. C'mon spring!
