Ric-in-sac is I am still working on the details of the route. Short and sweet....and fun, no doubt. Set the recorder for the parades and the games, take some aspirin for the revelry of the night before and let's go riding.

Darn it! :angry2:

I already committed to a ride New Year's day with a friend who rides a lousy BMW, when I coulda met a bunch a people on the Forum who ride really cool bikes.

I realize he'd be welcome, but he's not available till 11 AM after getting the Honey-Bunch-a-Oats to the airport.

What are the details so far, just to tempt me into disappointing my buddy--time, meet location, ride direction, etc.? Coming up from Concord is a piece o' cake.

The final details haven't been worked out yet....only that we're riding.

Probably going to meet somewhere off the I-80 corridor for breakfast (@ 0900, Rick?) then ride Auburn Blvd to I-80 (at Riverside onramp) then East on I-80 and get off on Taylor Road which parallels I-80 (Through Roseville, Rocklin and Loomis), then changes names to Ophir road and comes out onto I-80 between Newcastle and Rocklin. Then go up to AUburn and head South on Hwy 49. There we have options to ride Hy 49 through Coloma to Placerville; Or swing East @ Cool and ride Hwy 193 through Georgetown to Placerville; Or just before Coloma, turn Right and ride Salmon Falls Road around the East end of Folsom Lake to El Dorado Hills @ Hwy 50.

Just a "small" circle, 2 or 3 hours riding with friends and back home in time to get ready for work on Tuesday. We'll take some pictures for our snowbound brothers on the Right Coast.

There will be other rides this Spring. Rick has already been working on a route out of Woodland, up Highway 20 and into the hinterlands around the Sutter Buttes (The smallest mountain range in the U.S.)....but I digress.

Have a great time wherever you ride.

Ya Mike H will definitely be up for that....

Breakfast @ 0845

Rick has called Brookfields. Madison and I-80 on the North side of the freeway. They will hold a room for us (0845-1000) with a minimum of 8 people so we need a list ASAP.

Point of order: The Sutter Buttes is the world's smallest mountain range. :buba:

I'm in.

I was going to tell you to bring your friend along...but he isn't available until 1100.

Uhm, we might not ride "fast" enough for you.

NOTE: The other responders have been added to the breakfast post.......even bleary-eyed Andrew (We'll save you a spot at the "quiet" end of the table. ^_^

Judy and I will be there for breakfast. Will plan to leave the house by 8:15 and should be there by seating time.

Just a couple route ideas to expand on Mike's SPECULATED ROUTE. Instead of getting off 80 at the first Auburn exit, (a half mile after getting on 80 from the Ophir Rd on ramp), consider going up 80 three more exits to the Lincoln Ave. exit. Make a left on Lincoln at the end of the offramp, then a right onto Foresthill Road at the signal. A couple miles past the Foresthill bridge, make a RIGHT down to the confluence, where we make a left across the bridge at the bottom onto 193 to Cool. Much less traffic, great roads, maybe a mile or two longer, and doesn't take you through the stop and go part of Auburn in a group.

IF we're heading through Placerville via 49 to 50 west or via 49 through Gold Hill, or taking Lotus Road west out of Coloma, I think I'll return (with or without group) along Green Valley Road to Folsom (Lotus turns into it, as does Ray Lawyer Rd. and it skirts the northern side of El Dorado Hills). It's a great 2 lane rural country road that will take you back to Folsom Rd or the intersection of Greenback and Auburn Folsom Rd at the Cliff House Restaurant overlooking the river. I'm gonna be taking Auburn Folsom Rd back to Auburn from there, but for anyone heading back toward 80, it's one way to do it (via Greenback or Madison). If you want to ride Green Valley Road toward Folsom (instead of riding west on 50) and need to get back on 50 west, you make a left on Folsom Rd. when I go right, and it's maybe 2 miles or so to the on ramp onto 50 west.

FWIW

Uhm....are you going to join us on Monday?

I wished I lived in Nor Cal. Nobody from SoCal wants to ride together. No, it's not just me- HONEST. Maybe it is??? Well, anyways have fun. I have heard on STN that NOR CAL people even get together for rides THEN BBQ's. Never happen down here.
