Changing Clutch Engagement Point WITHOUT Adjusting the Lever

I can't tell you the length of the push rod since I haven't taken it out. However, the diameter of the push rod is 5.5 mm and the end is rounded to fit in the cupped hole in the slave cylinder. The 3/16" rod = 4.8 mm. I bought a 36" long rod from the hardware store for $2. I center punched...

Changing Clutch Engagement Point WITHOUT Adjusting the Lever

Ok, I ended up with .1875" diameter and 0.200" overall length. I counter drilled one end to cup and center the clutch rod, so the effective length is about 0.150". With the clutch lever adjustment on #4, the engagement starts about 1/3 of the lever travel from the handlebar. Much better --...

Changing Clutch Engagement Point WITHOUT Adjusting the Lever

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out the Pazzo levers, but I like bustanut's simplicity of putting a spacer in the slave cyl. I'm sure you wouldn't want to compromise the depth that the push rod seats into the slave cyl. too much because the spacer will reduce the lateral support...

Changing Clutch Engagement Point WITHOUT Adjusting the Lever

I just finished installing a GEN I clutch slave cylinder on my 07 GEN II. The engagement point is even closer to the handlebar, as has been noted by others. Mine starts engaging within about 3/8" distance from the handle bar. Too close for my taste. I'm thinking that, perhaps, the only...

    modifying stock exhaust cans

Karmak, Have you found any sound files or You Tube videos w/sound with the Meissner inserts? Also, could you tell from your installation if the original inserts could be reinstalled in the same way that the Meissner kit was installed? nwrider1

clicking noise found and fixed !!!

Another source of "clicking" from the front end are the brake rotors with floating retainers "buttons". When these wear it allows some forward and back movement of the rotors. Check by grasping a rotor and see how much movement there is front and back. Usually not a problem until 25k - 50k...

    Finally gone

In the same vein, I still have my 1982 Yamaha XV920RJ that I bought new as a left over in 1986. I only ride it about 1000 miles/yr. Now has 25,000+ miles on it. Nothing done except re-shimming the starter and putting on a Plexi III fairing. With today's ethanol fuel, I now have one carb...

VStream or Laminar Lip which one?

If respondents don't give their height and inseam length, it's very hard to determine whether the windscreen or combination they like would be suitable for others.

    Buying a 07FJR Tommorrow

As I mentioned in another thread regarding the ignition sw recall, I recently bought an 07 with 7500 miles on it. It had the original front tire. I knew just by loading in onto and off of my trailer when I picked it up that the front tire pressure was low. 18 psi. Airing it up reduced the...

Some 07's Not Affected By Ignition Switch Recall?

I recently bought a used 07, I'm the third owner. The ignition sw recall had not been done. The local dealer replaced the switch and the ECU. I could not see that the dealer had marked the VIN# or put a tag on the harness. So, I requested a complete copy of the order for the switch and ECU...

    Cheap Zumo alternative

I'm curious about the potential failure of the non-replaceable battery in the Nuvi 755T. Has anyone had experience in that regard? Also, I've read comments about bad touchscreens on some of them --- assume they'd be replaced under warranty, but some have reported a gradual degradation in...
