All of this talk about rain (and snow) made me take a look at the weather for next week. Actually, it looks as though the entire country, with the exception of Lake Havasu, will get dumped on really bad. We hardly ever get any freaking rain.

Terri and I will be riding in the rain and if the snow gets too deep we will rent a uhaul truck to get over the passes. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I'll be there rain or shine.
Attaboy! ;)

I hate the rain.......We will have to see how bad it is, the Audi is looking mighty tempting.

I wouldn't mind going for a 4 hour heated massage in the Audi. I love that car!
Dang doode, that sure changed fast!
The real problem is with DV roads should heavy rains come through as expected.. The lower roads wash out, become impassable by even high clearance 4x4's much less street ***** FJR's. Hell, FairLaner might get the Audi stuck in a river and DJ too!

Real men, like dirt biker SkooterG, and BeemerDons, will have no problem reaching the destination, just sayin'...

I will say that my area is expecting 6 - 8 inches of rain next week - but I'm still in, will watch the weather and decide then. For now, all systems go!

I think it was last year I canceled a DV ride and those that went had an epic time with snow on the DV mountains and scenery most peeps never see, and that's interesting to me.

Cold i can do, but i am not interested in another rain ride like that last 3 ..........

Will decide on Monday.

Folks, there is absolutely no reason that you cannot take a vehicle to Death Valley Daze! My buddy Brian Boles just posted me (I'm at the Library, my home computer is still at the shop; damn Bust and his sheep ****!) that his wife Melanie is thinking about not coming because of the threat of rain. They both work at Microchip Corporation here in Chandler and I'm going to have lunch with them today. I am going to suggest that my lady friend Rena and Mel ride to DVD in my Jeep Liberty SUV.

Brian will switch to his BMW R100GS; Orestes will be on my FJR and I'll be on my R1150RT; snow and rain don't bother us!

DO NOT let the threat of wet weather keep you from attending Death Valley Daze, if you need to take a vehicle to get to the Longstreet Inn and Casino because of rain and snow; then just get to Amargosa Valley by any means possible to do so!

Death Valley DAZE is about the Friendship and the Fellowship, as much as it's about the riding. We lost Tim "TwoWheelNut" Bates just over a year ago, and we're now losing Patti; I view the FJR Forum as My Family; come to "Our Family Gathering"!

Ya bunch of pies, you better show up.
This is big talk from a guy that is bring his bikes on a trailer. Too many snow filled passes for a CBA guy like me.
I'm backing my older brother Niehart on this one big time! If you're facing snowy passes and extreme rain to get to Death Valley DAZE, then just put the bike on a trailer; come and have a blast: Drinking and Gambling with your FJR Forum Pals!!!

Right! Here is some of Don~Don's advice to me last year and a short history of the cancellation of our ride to DV in February due to weather. See Post #59 Predictions of wet and cold in DV

Sorry for this tale, but this already happened and is history. Our last year's plan was foiled by the worst storm to hit DV of the 2009 season on the February dates mentioned. However, a similar plan for February of this 2010 year is already underway to ride from CenCalCoast to the Palm Springs area, then return through DV, weather permitting.

Those that go on this January ride, "be serious" about gearing up, tires, battery, lighting etc.

Just me CO2

johnny80s, I'm calling "********" on this post! 1) You can still jack off, your very favorite hobby, next to riding your FJR. 2) You shared pitchers of margaritas with Dr. Rich, Rena and I in Las Vegas! 3) You spent a night with GalaxyBlue, that's gambling!!!

Both dcarver and Khunajawdge bring up outstanding points! If you do come across water running across the road, DO NOT attempt to cross it, until you see another vehicle go across. Then gauge whether you can cross, by observing the tire eddy.

Like johnny80s, I'm riding come hell or high water! But, I'm keeping a very close and trained eye on the high water! Peligro!
