Then either Glacier NP or down closer to Y'stone and the Beartooth. I don't remember riding out into the ocean, but . . .
Milke, if it's an "either-or" situation, go with Beartooth and Chief Joseph.

But really, you can do both. Do Going to the Sun eastbound, then ride south to Columbus, and to Red Lodge to get on the Beartooth. Ride that west to the Chief Joe, then take Joseph southeast to Cody.

In Cody pick up US Route 14 and ride that as far east as you can. That will take you up and over the Bighorns. It is great riding all the way out to the Devil's Tower area of Wyoming, though you'll be on I-90 from Gillette to Moorcroft, WY,

From the Badlands we stuck with US 14 from Pierre all the way to the Twin Cities (Minn). It's not nearly as bad as riding the slab.

Highly Recommend the Big Horns and then hitting Devils Tower. Stop by the "Store" in Aladdin on the way back. There is a quite a bit of history in that store and the girl working there the day we were there was worth looking at. She is the "Sturgis Rally Girl" that is on all of the posters and billboards pertaining to the Rally. She is beautiful and the back story about Aladdin (population 15) being her hometown was interesting to this History teacher. I think she said her Grandparents own the store.

After that, Head into Belle Fourche before heading to Spearfish and the local rides there. Hit BigJohnSD up for a wealth of local knowledge. Not contacting him will result in not getting the best out of your trip. He literally knows every road and can ride them with the cruise set.

We stayed in the city campgrounds at Spearfish. If you are camping, I would check that place out. Clean, Quite, and cheap

You got me on the Auto Correct. Big fingers on small phone keys. Late night posts rarely get reviewed before posting as well.

At least it was not like that Banjoboy's posts.

Looks like you are having a great ride, Mike. I'm in Moab tonight after spending several hours in Arches National Park, wow, what great sights, Maybe tomorrow night in Montrose, depending on time and I do want to watch some of the Duck - Michigan game which starts at 4;30 Mountain. If you want to check out my ride report and some pics, I'm posting a page on facebook. it is "50-60-70 Big Ride". I may get my daughter to copy from there and post to this forum. I rode Going to the Sun a couple of days ago and is was zero/zero visibility for a bout 3/4 mile on both sides of the pass. Scary bad with headlights or taillights suddenly right in front of you and places with no markings and ******* big drop offs. Sunday night in Colorado Springs and Tues heading north and east.

Fred was right about GTTS weather today--perfect. But SO dry. The waterfalls were barely damp. And a Long construction delay on the east. I'm in Great Falls tonite--have to check the map and the recommendations here too. Prob won't get down to the Cody area, but I have done those great roads before--once anyway. Things I know I want to see and probably will: Rushmore, Badlands, Black Hills, Devil's Tower. PM to Big John is next on the schedule.

I can't do it justice with one finger and an iPhone, Mike. Just keep it on your to-do list till you do it. It's so amazingly beautiful, and especially if you luck into a clear sunny - and cool - day like I had today. I didn't do the Chief Joseph today but did ride my first-choice one. Tomorrow? The Bighorns for sure, and who knows what other wonderful surprises? Hope to connect with Big John Monday.

One other thing--I don't think I said it here--I'm posting pics from this trip via Twitter. You can find it by going there and then searching for "@sacmike99"

Nice. Glad you worked in the Beartooth Highway.

Chief Joseph is nicer because the traffic is less. But the Beartooth has the grander views. Either one will put you into sensory overload by itself.

If you have the time and you are taking US 14A (not 14) through the Bighorns, take the ride up the short gravel road to the Medicine Wheel parking lot. From there It's only a mile and a half walk up to the medicine wheel at the top, if you've got the time and the stamina. At 9000+ feet O2 deprivation is a real consideration. But just the ride and views along that gravel road are worth doing it.

Mike in Spearfish tonight after Devils Tower, Spearfish Canyon, Sturgis, Vanocker Canyon, Nemo Road, Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse this afternoon.

He'll be heading East in the morning to get ahead of the weather coming from the West.

That was basically the same route in order that you put us on there!! Great to have a list of rides to go on of that caliber.

++ for you John and your hospitality for so many riders. That is one of the big reasons I will be making the roundup next summer. Even if I have to pay the 1000mile price to get there.
