Well I finally got around to finishing the dimmer install today. Its in the glove box along with my garage door opener.

Of course I had to go out and test it today. It works great as advertised.

I used the high beam feed (with an inline 3A fuse) as a trigger, which is the same line I use to trigger my Hella FF50's relay, so now when I hit the high beams, my Hellas come on and the ADV Monster LEDs on my forks go full power. I'm anxious for my first night time test. Coming soon...

Thanks to Justin for making the dimmer so affordable. Us northern yankees appreciate that!

Thanks for the feedback. I plan on keeping the price on the dimmers low, even for the latest batch. Those will be added to the site in the next few days. No major changes except the addition of an epoxy coating on the boards. The cases and wiring will continue to be sealed with RTV. Price will be $25 alone, $20 with a pair of lights.

In the interim, we have another special going on, for a pair or LR4's and a dimmer for $10. Special will be good until I get around to adding the dimmer to the site. That can be found on the following URL:

https://ledrider.com/shop/?model_number=LR4P-FD

In other news:

1. We're a Cyclops dealer now, and we'll be adding the long distance 10 watt and 25 watt single chip spot lights to the site soon. 15% FJR discount will not apply on this product line, but we'll be doing free shipping anywhere in the US for forum members :)

3.5 Inch, 10 watt - https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-OEPpgEjhNmc/UyImjZcKFjI/AAAAAAAADFE/ObMAhin2AnA/s600/ld10.jpg

4.5 Inch, 25 watt - https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-cfNRUpLtyoc/UyZRGAEquOI/AAAAAAAADFk/Xc_gygKaAqg/s400/extreme.jpg

Pricing on the 10 watt will be $259 a pair with a basic harness, and $329 with the Skene dimmer harness. The 10 watt light will be available in 10 or 20 degrees, or a combo. Pricing on the 25 watt lights will be $449 a pair with standard harness and $521 a pair with the Skene dimmer harness. The 25 watt lights are 10 degree pattern and will have clear or amber flood pattern filters available. Both of these lights offer the best range per watt in LED lighting, and come with a LIFETIME warranty. I run the the 25 watt lights on my FJR and I can say without a doubt they easily give 1500 feet of good lighting. A pair of the 10 watt lights will reach out to a 1000 feet in the 10 degree pattern. Bottom line, if you're looking for the best, these lights will not be beaten for range and quality.

2. We'll be releasing a new 4.3 inch light with 5 Cree XM-L's that puts out a staggering 5000 lumens. These lights are rock solid and built to take a beating. Features include a UV coated aluminum body, practically unbreakable PC lens, Deutsch connectors, waterproof metal wire grommet into the light. These lights pull 50 watts each. Pricing is going to be $290 per pair and the forum discount will bring that down to $250. These will have a two year warranty.

Thanks for your attention, and let me know if there are any questions :)

Justin,

Paypal coming your way for a dimmer. I need to get this handled as it won't be long before I'll be doing the install. Finally.

Justin, sorry I lost the thread on this - the original dimmers were sealed how? Same as the newest iteration? Just neater?

"The cases and wiring will continue to be sealed with RTV"

LR-4 pair ordered today, paid paypal
Thanks for your biz!

"The cases and wiring will continue to be sealed with RTV"
Version 1a was sealed with liquid tape, and was very messy, and coating on the wires would crack. Version 1b was sealed with clear RTV that remains flexible. Version 2 (current) will continue to be sealed with RTV, and some additional internal changes were made - i.e. better conformal coating on the board, and wire grommet sealed from the inside as well as the outside for a better seal, and better stress relief.

FYI folks - the Cyclops Long Range lights are added to our site at this time: https://ledrider.com/shop/?perpage=16&filternum=1&manufacturer=18

FJR15 coupon is not valid on this product line. Instead we are offering free shipping anywhere in the US. For free shipping use coupon code "LDFS".

As I sell LED lighting and am an avid LD rider, I personally test every light we sell, and have the luxury of having many options available. The Cyclops Long Range series are the longest throwing LED lights on the market. These are a step up in a pricing, but for those that need uncompromising range and quality, these lights will not be beat. I run a set of the big 25 watt spots along side our popular LR4 flood and find it to be the combo for range and width, without blinding your eyes close in.

The smaller 3.5" inch, 10-watt LED produces 693 ft. of usable light from a single, and over 1000' feet of usable light from a pair. The larger 4.5", 25-watt LED puts out over 1000' feet of usable light, and over 1500 feet from a pair. Compared to a standard 55 watt low beam headlight reach of 88 ft. and a standard 65 watt high beam reach of 153 ft.

Also note, the Cyclops series lights come with a LIFETIME warranty, and buying through LEDRider.com also protects you with the same "No BS" 1 month return policy as the rest of our products offer. We want every customer to be happy with their purchase, and not be stuck with a product they are not happy with.

Justin, what's the best way to incorporate bypass function with the dimmer? Is that possible, or do you need to go to a Skene?

FYI Folks, we're *finally* on Facebook

"Likes" would be appreciated

Did my part...... We like you, we really really like you... Ha. !!

Now a question...... where is everyone finding the best place to mount the dimmer. I was thinking close to the tank on the panel by the battery. (Gen 1), but if it'll fit on the left side, that would be easier to manipulate while riding..... thoughts !?!?

I plan on hooking up to the battery.....

Also, let me get this right, if I hook up the blue wire to the high beam wire, that will bypass the dimmer and go full brightness ?!!??!

I keep mine in the glove box. There's really no need to access it frequently if it's relayed after ignition. If you use the highbeam to trigger it, just set your dimmed level where you want it, and be done with it.

Good point on the dimmer, set it and forget it...

Unfortunately the glove box is a no go for me - I'm always filling that with stuffs.

Other suggestions welcome for placement......

What 7.5 & 2.5a 12v inline fuse holders would you suggest for this.......?

Dual lock it to a panel on the dash somewhere that's out of the way? Other than the glove box, and mounting it through a panel, I'm not sure what other are doing. I'm partial to the Posi fuse holders, just because the are easy to use: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-uXjXEbOxrG2/p_669PP618/Posi-Products-Fuse-Holder-Kit.html

With any of the posi conenctors that aren't watertight, I just squirt a dab of RTV into the ends to seal them up. Otherwise, can just grab an inline fuse holder at Radio shack or the autoparts store.

i made a simple l bracket and mounted it on the screws for the left lever. On top of it, I mounted the wireless warm n safe controller.

personally i like to be able to keep the lights up a bit brighter in the daytime, turn them down as low as possible at night. As they are mounted by the mirrors, they are a bit annoying to oncoming cars.

Well I tackled this today..... turned out pretty good I think.....

Mounted the lights on the WynPro brackets.... very nice....

Peeled the dash covers off, saw the subframe with a big gaping hole behind it....

That dimmer should fit nicely right there...
IMG_20140331_112330.jpg

Now to carve a hole for the dial.... where's my dremel. ?!?!?

IMG_20140331_112228.jpg

A little adjustment to the hole for the knob...

Turned out pretty nice.... but now theres a problem...

Right after I buttoned it up now the dimmer switch doesn't click on and off... just spins...

Justin - any ideas on this ?!?! took it straight from the bag, mounted it up and no more clicky.... Didn't even wire it up yet...
