I think Mike was suggesting to use the PlastiDip on the outside of the plastic box only, as a weather sealant for the wire entry, not as a conformal coating on the circuit board or insulator for any bare conductors.

Sealing the plastic box at the lid and the wire entry / grommet with silicone sealant should be good enough for making it splashproof. We don't really need to make it submersible. ;)

Never mind.......... Mike's reply came after Justin asked about uncased PCBs.

IPX-4 not IPX-7 If the power controller is mounted on the bike AND it is submerged then you have more to worry about than just the power controller ;)

BeemerDons is probably coming up with some sort of U-boat joke right now.

Yup - was picturing covering the entire thing externally. Would encase the wires along with the seam between the halves. I suppose it might also provide a little damping depending on where you mount it. It looks like Fred used hook and loop but if it ended up directly against another hard surface you would have a kind of gasket between the two.

Well, I see no reason the end user couldn't do that. Could even color match the bike to bright yellow or orange :) . The new batch is coming out way better. The RTV is super flexible and comes out very clean looking. Will be switching to black instead of clear for version II.

Also - we'll rolling out a round version of our LR62 soon. Yup, you guessed it, will be the LR62R :)

I love the LR62 light, and I think the round is more appealing looks wise.

Any closer?
Low cost 4.5 inch lights aren't going to happen. I wasn't able to find the patent info until after I opened my mouth :/. I am, however, working on becoming a Cyclops dealer, so we will have 4.5 inch LEDs eventually. Price will be a bit more, but will be worth it.
Ahhh, finally seeing the light on Cyclops! If only I hadn't had technical difficulties in Gerlach. . . . .ha. They be good lights for distance :) and can't beat lifetime warranty. Pair up beautifully with your lights.

I like the idea of the project box kit. I go crazy with on the road tweaks and could see ganging like 4 of them under my dash shelf :)

Keep on keepin on brother.

Well, I wired up the dimmer this weekend and forgot about the perfessors recommendation about the inline fuse to the trigger (blue) wire. I tapped into the headlight high beam. I haven't started the bike yet to test it. Q: How big of a concern should I have about the dimmer frying the headlight circuit? I'm pretty confident in Justin's stuff given the discussion here on this thread.

If it doesn't fry anything in the first few seconds of operation, am I good to go? Or do I wire in some insurance (fuse) before I fire it up?

Well, I got my LR4s hooked up and working, they look great...and talk about a world of difference! One question, I have not yet hooked up the blue "trigger" wire to the HB. I plan on using a posi tap connector, how is that wire from the HB routed? in other words, is there another place (other than at the headlight itself) that I can tap into that wire that is more accessible?

Hey guys,

I would stick an inline fuse in there. The problem here is if that dimmer does go south (sometime in the future) it would blow the main headlight fuse, so you would have no headlights at all.

I tapped into the wiring right behind the left side headlight to get my trigger signal. Just unwrap a little electrical tape from the harness and you'll have good access to put your tap on.

Justin,

Sorry about the payment snafu for the $20 dimmer. I _finally_ got a notification back from paypal that they couldn't process it because of a typo in your email address. Really, it took weeks to notify me!

No big whoop. I'm assuming all have been spoken for and I'll go either with your revised model or a Skene.

I'll still hook you up. Forgot you had an issue with PayPal. Actually, I thought I had sent you one already  . I have a new batch shipping to me this Friday, they are in production now.

I have been meaning to post here for a few days...

My interstate commute was often interrupted by some clown darting in front of me...

The other evening a car just ahead of me in the lane to my right started easing over. I thought "here we go again" The left blinker flashed once and the car darted back into the center of his lane. As I pondered my good fortune it occurred to me that this (getting cut off) hasn't happened in quite awhile.

(this is where I get back on topic)

I haven't been cut off since I installed the lights I bought from Justin! I really wasn't expecting them to make my day rides safer, but they work!

Installed are a pair of LR4's on mirror brackets and a pair of mini's on the forks at the fender bolts. They run at 40% power on low beam in daylight and 10% on low beam at night. I do have them adjusted a bit on the high side;) I don't know that loud pipes ever saved any lives, but these lights just might!

Of course my night vision is mucho betterer also.

Yup, extra lights sure help people see you. Of course, I still ride like no one does. There's always gonna be that one person that couldn't see a 747 approaching. Every little bit helps though :)

I'll just give you the $20 deal on one of the new ones, since you missed out. PM me if you need payment info.
